Christine Nixon... leave her alone!

Nixon ate while Marysville burned. Perhaps she can't play the fiddle.

Her salary was $360,000 as head copper, about the same in her present job and $200,000 by Fosters just for a part time job on their Board. She can certainly afford to dine well and often. She should take up cycling to burn off the fat.

Calliope , as one who cycles without a helmet, I find your stigmatisation of cyclists unhelpful.

Can someone tell me when did Christine Nixon light the fires again? before or after her dinner?

I'm not completely over this incident, but from what I have read, she was AWOL for 2-3 hours at the 'peak' of the bushfire crisis. I'm not sure if it was the 'peak' but certainly an important period according to the tabloids.

From a crisis management perspective (and I've been involved with some) there's absolutely no excuse for not being at your post, or at least available, during this time. If the news reporting is right, then she was literally AWOL. Those people get shot in times of war. And the bushfires were war.

When she's on her death bed, she will be haunted by the decision to leave her post.

No excuses.

She should have gone without the risotto and stuck with the tinned beaf and tort.

I agree Kennas

I think Christine's decision and action was similar to Emperor Nero playing flute when Rome was burning. She also behaved like Queen Antoniot (check spell) who said why people are worried not to be able to buy bread. Ask them to buy cake.

Christine has put herself in disrepute for prioritising between her duties with passion. Ironically Brumby is not doing any better by standing behind her.

Think it was during dinner but even the metro media lit thiers later in the evening. Those along the chain, supposed to advise Nixon obviously slept through.

Lot of dust to settle on this yet and its early in the morning

It was when she accepted control of the emergency operation. She was well aware that her eating priorities could affect her judgement. Her plaintive cry was "I had to eat".:drink::bite:
