China a Failed State and a Rogue State to the rest of the World

Hell on earth. One thing I disagree with Greg Canavan of fat tail about is that China is an investable place. He has buys on the etfs IZZ and CNEW. Reckons that China stocks have gotten cheap. I wouldn't want to make money from that moral sh*thole anyway.

but we thought the problem was decrease of population...they have or will have problems, but we are in no position to gloat here.
If China sneeze, we drown.
I think one real indicator is that more and more uni students are not finding proper job.
I would take the video of huge people crowds at station with a pinch of salt.

I watch a lot of videos like this on China from different channels and they're consistent. Maybe they're all propaganda, I'll admit I didn't consider the possibility. The only thing I'd "gloat" about is the destruction, the annihilation of the CCP. That makes me a friend of ordinary Chinese people imo. As for our economic dependence on them, we should trade but never let it get one sided. Look what they did to our barley farmers, wine makers, coal miners and threatened more in order to suppress the free speech of our government.

One flick of the switch and we are done.

CNEW had me thinking but i missed my target price , only the bravest are INVESTING new money currently ( anywhere in the globe )

we could easily plunge into a MAJOR war or depression at very short notice ( say before Trump gets sworn in )

China, a sh*t manufacturer state and a rogue state to the rest of the world.

To be fair its comparing a new Chinese product to an American product from over 100 years ago. A newly made American product would be much worse. Manufacturing quality has gone down in all countries. Look at the ****-box newly built houses they build in Australia today compared to the sturdy double brick houses built 50 years ago.

Point taken.
I would still confidently back this below against the best that China could put up any day, although I can't claim that as empirical obviously.
Also America started from a place of quality, China started from a place of cheap, shoddy and counterfeit to displace western manufacturers.

About housing, I live in a NSW country town in a crummy bungalow style house built in the eighties. It really brings down the value of the neighbourhood as it is surrounded by art deco type beautiful houses built in the early to mid twentieth century. They were designed by architects with an aesthetic and required craftsmen to fully realize the vision. My place is a disgusting utilitarian soulless upscaled donga that I could afford at the time but representive of everything built in the town from 1960 onward. I think me and this house should be immolated by a HIMARS.

It's all crap sold at the major hardwares these days.

The thing is if you're using it every day the quality product is going to be better off, if you use it once in a blue moon the cheaper product will be more economical.

I had a client years ago who sold a product made in Australia to a major retailer connected to WES, a few years later he saw the same product on the shelf made overseas for cheaper than he could manufacture it.

This thread has unfortunately drifted off topic. Let's get back to discussing China in a geopolitical context.

I would also urge threads participants to avoid generalising about people from other nations. We have people from a variety of ethnic and national backgrounds at ASF and generalising in an insensitive way may cause offense.

oh, and would you like back the Sydney ferries?
Not done yet, and they expected a fully Tesla autonomous driving style in Indonesia roads.good luck with that😊
