besides , no point in getting my number i share it with Tom the African refugee , and he seems to travel a fair bit ( Australia and abroad )
They only have to make something indispensible, then they have big brother, I wonder what that would be. LolNot about payment but phones - a friend tells me that a hairdressing salon actually refused service, refused to cut their hair, without a mobile phone number being provided.
So it's actually compulsory to own a mobile, and to disclose the number, to get your hair cut?
Suffice to say I can't think of anything to say next that doesn't involve swearing......
until it is used against them , after all government officials are notorious for abusing their entitlements and other resources they administerThey only have to make something indispensible, then they have big brother, I wonder what that would be. Lol
30 years ago everyone complained about the Australia card, because it was an intrusion on your privacy.
Now everyone is upset, if people arent interested in their privacy. Lol
Yeah, I have noticed a few of the barber chains now operated digital lines. So rather than the old sit and wait your turn, they expect you to walk up add your phone number then walk away and wait for a text message to let you now it’s you turn. Not about payment but phones - a friend tells me that a hairdressing salon actually refused service, refused to cut their hair, without a mobile phone number being provided.

don't plan to visit Disney either , i hope their cost-savings offset the loss of patronageYeah, I have noticed a few of the barber chains now operated digital lines. I can see a situation where a staff member might be confused and not know what to do if some one refuses to join the digital cue, and so in the moment just refuse service.
I am in Disney World at the moment, and their latest ride only has a digital cue, if you don’t have Disney’s app you can’t ride the ride. There is no regular line to join.

As in literally right now?I am in Disney World at the moment
It's the compulsory aspect I dislike.heir latest ride only has a digital cue, if you don’t have Disney’s app you can’t ride the ride. There is no regular line to join.

I mean, I need a phone at DW for, well, what exactly?
Just my personal opinion but the less things in pockets at theme parks, the better in my view. Just personal preference.
If people want to opt in to something then sure but the idea that you must have a smartphone, and you must carry it with you at all times for purposes that have nothing to do with making actual phone calls or even communication in general, is going too far in my view.
i bet not many illegal migrants can afford to be in those lines ( and the middle-class will be eradicated soon in the US )Loss of patronage?
The parks are so full at the moment you have to reserve your spot ahead of time, gone are the days of waking up and deciding to go to the park and buy your ticket out the front.
Even the restaurants book out, I had to book our restaurants 60days in advance.

But yeah digital cues are amazing, let’s face it it sucks standing in line for an hour waiting for a ride. Being able to log into the app, and be in a digital cue while you are off doing other things in the park is great.
Or you can just do what I do and drop some cash and skip the lines.
That new ride that I mentioned has no physical line, is free to join the digital line.i bet not many illegal migrants can afford to be in those lines ( and the middle-class will be eradicated soon in the US )
It was far lower tech when I went there. If you ever do come to Disney World you will need atleast one person in your group to have a smart phone to have the best experience.
Yep, being able to see the little blue dot on the map showing your location move around as you walk helps to show you are heading in the right direction ???It was far lower tech when I went there.
I'll admit to getting lost actually. Well not quite lost, just heading in the opposite direction to what was required. Three hotel buildings all looked the same and looking on the paper map it was clear which one the tour bus (heading to a non-Disney location) departed from. All good or so we thought.
Just one trouble and that was having the map up the wrong way. Thought we were being smart using the sun to work out bearings, completely forgetting that this is the northern hemisphere not the southern.....
It did work out in the end thankfully, they let us do the tour a couple of days later.
Pretty sure I've still got a set of mouse ears somewhere.
For countries to go cashless they really need people to carry a smart phone, the more they get people to rely on and accept the phone as an essential item, the easier it will be to introduce a cashless system IMO.As in literally right now?

Currently have friends trying to convince us to do a Caribbean Cruise in November. Before we arrived at Disney World we did a Cruise in the Bahamas.
Cashless is also a problem for the homeless population which is on a up trend worldwide, perhaps branding them with a chip could solve the problemFor countries to go cashless they really need people to carry a smart phone, the more they get people to rely on and accept the phone as an essential item, the easier it will be to introduce a cashless system IMO.
As I posted earlier, it will be used to carry out most Government functions, through the My Gov app, once the majority use the phone as the tap and go payment device, the cashless system will follow soon after.
It is only the older generation that are stopping them from accelerating the change to cashless and that generation is becoming a smaller and smaller number.
We did the Disney Cruise, on their new ship the “Wish”, it was only a short 4 night. The ship itself was fantastic had a lot of fun.Currently have friends trying to convince us to do a Caribbean Cruise in November.
Not a great cruiser myself and other friends tell me the Caribbean is over rated --I've also done most of the Pacific Islands.
What was your experience?
New phones don’t even require SIM cards, the latest iPhone can have up to 4 Esims on it so you can have your personal and work phone numbers all on the same phone, and the iPhones sold in the USA no longer even have the aim slot.Soon, at least two phones with different SIM cards will be sensible. One for family, one for financial / business/ work, and one for your dealer.
