For those who would use or would have used the largest amount in value of cash ... criminals, tradies, barristers, crooked politicians, sex workers, the CWA, volunteer and charitable organisations, and others swimming in the murky pool of undeclared money, many should use bitcoin now.

It is said to be untraceable if the user is careful just like cash.

And you don't need a card to use it.

Bitcoin is public ledger... means every transaction is open to public. Paired with strict exchange identification and kyc measures id say very very far from untraceable.

I was chatting to an owner of a stall at the local markets, he sells coffee beans and coffee, there is generally a queue for his products and he is on top of his game.
His takings have gone from 83% cash pre-covid to 85% card now with no sign of a return to cash.

There are a lot of hidden costs with cash as a business owner, theft(both by staff and break ins), time spent counting, trips to banks, storage etc.
I keep some cash stashed for emergencies.

A service fee for cash can't be too far away.

Sounds very much like rcw1 conversations with bookies ha ha ha ha except maybe an expletive or two when they say no to the Rcw1 coin for a particular bet where the bookie thought to much about the consequences of a pay out that might hurt the lads bottom line ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Yes they do.
But I think with the customer base going from 7 out of 8 using cash to 1 out of 8 using cash, any concerns businesses ( or more likely banks in a top down scenario) May have of losing customers by charging for cash handling is greatly diminished.

I’m not saying I like the idea, but I won’t be surprised if it happens.

As far as I know "Cash" as in "Legal Tender" cannot be interfered with.

So if I present $50 to an outfit that has an ABN or even is a sole trader it would be illegal to change the value of the cash tendered.

Nope, that’s not the way it works.

Cash is legal tender, but that doesn’t mean people are forced to accept it.

when you purchase something you are entering into a private contract, and the Seller has the right to set the terms and conditions of the sale, including set out how they would like to be paid, and any fees involved.

If they give you verbal or written notice in the form of a sign that they don’t accept cash payments, or have a handling fee. that’s totally legal.

The can also state that they don’t accept certain denominations.
