Can IB real time data be used as EOD data with Metastock?

Hi Steve, i have been trying to get some answers from Metastock about this one but am not having much luck getting a straight answer. Basically what i am trying to do is run IB TWS alongside Metastock (EOD version, not real time). What id like to know is if the real time data supplied form you guys (ASX) is able to be used as EOD data with Metastock. From what i have been told, Metastock can run IB data, but requires a third party plug in. What i'm not sure about is whether this data can be used as EOD instead of real time.

The other option would be to use Metastocks EOD data (DD3). Is this data able to be used with TWS or does TWS only run with real time data??

Steve from IB has not posted here in some time so I have renamed this thread so others who may have an answer to your query have a better idea what this thread is about.

Don't know about Metastock, but possible for Amibroker. You can define this in database settings, datasource Interactive Brokers and set interval to EOD. You have to keep in mind though that you have to manually set up and select the tickers and there is maximum of 100 symbols you can backfeed I believe. So not ideal for that purpose; if you want to get EOD data for testing you're much better of with dataproviders imho.

Sorry for digging up old threads but this seemed to be applicable to my situation and this was all I could find when doing a search...

Anyone using IBs live data with Metastock? My metastock version supports intraday but I only really use EOD for my stock selection so either would be appropriate for me atm I guess.

Im not presently subscribed for IB live data but am seriously considering it after playing around with the demo. I dont want to pay for 2 data subscriptions so would like to get rid of the other if possible. Just wanted to get some feedback before I took the plunge.

You can use live data and turn it into EOD bars but to practically use it is not really an option.

You would need to download the the data for each stock every day to keep your data up to date. IMO it would be easier just to pay for data of some one like Premium Data who also keep it up to date with things like stock splits etc etc.

Ps - I only use the live data in Amibroker for Forex & Futures not stocks but you can change to EOD bars.
