Cadbury's 20% downsize

We the people are fools. FULL STOP. Bought a block the other day. Smaller bar, same price. Only noticed when I opened the packet that it had gotten smaller. The "pieces" of square chocolate no longer had the raised bump on them. Flat as a pancake. Like this _____________________________ flat !

You're both being very ungrateful.

Cadbury's have made clear they are motivated purely by concern for your health. They wish to encourage you to eat less chocolate.

i hope they continue to downsize it until it just vanishes

it is the worst chocolate on the market by a mile. cant eat it myself

While this really stinks, and shame on them for trying to pull the wool over our eyes with clever redesign that makes it difficult to notice the 21% reduction, they probably had two options given the current economic climate:

Put the prices up.
Reduce size and keep price the same/similar.

If they put the prices up everyone would know straight away and they may have lost some customers.
Reducing the size is a clever way to keep up with CPI etc(what a crock though because it works out to about a 25% price increase!) without much noticeable difference to the consumer..........and it's not like they don't have the size printed on the packaging.

Sucks big time, and I don't even like the new shape of the portions, I find them harder in the mouth..........completely opposite to Cadbury's pathetic excuse for the change.............and I'll admit, I didn't even realise the reduction in size I thought it was simply a change for changes sake:banghead:

cheers

This new product has a very different wallet-feel.

get yr ass's down to Bi-Lo, and purchase the big blocks of Belgian Chocolate, and others for less than $2.

even better buy them in bulk on special

a $30 safe from Bunnings will prevent marauding kids from eating them all

(you can put packs of bics in as well)

choc is not supposed to be refrigerated ( u have to in summer obviously)

probably sounds like I am a glutton and miser, but aint so, I just like a biccy with my coffee twice a day, and 2 pieces of choc at night.

a teenager can easily demolish pack of bics or choc, in a day

x 3 is like a locust plague in the kitchen

Dont buy Cadbury, buy Whittakers, much much better in all areas.

I agree. I actually laughed out loud at this one.

Thanks for the link Mr. Burns, i'm glad some people are trying to keep the likes of Cadbury honest ;)

Oh yeah, i love the way the pic on the front wrapper is the same, yet the product has changed.

Glad to be of service:)

A $ saved is far better than a $ earned, due to tax, (and a laugh is priceless.)

Cadbury is rogering the public

depends on personal taste obviously, but the Belgian choc is good quality.

probably should start a separate thread, but the price difference of me shopping at the local Bi-LO ( re-named now I think), compared to my lovely Mrs shopping at more upmarket establishments is approx $100 per week (disputed), on a Grocery bill of well over $300pw.

dont ever buy Bi-Lo Cocoa, as I'm sure it is just pond mud, and the dunny paper is criminal.

I was very sad when they stopped making Bi-Lo Choc Wheats @ $1.10, IMO they were much nicer than the brand names at twice the price.

Unlike Aldi, they have a wide range of products.

Luckily, my nearest Bi-Lo is located in area of lower socio-economic development, by a geographic quirk, so that keeps the prices low as well.

ok, I am a bit of a miser, it makes my heart sing when the kiddies whinge and say, I wont eat that so-and-so product, just cause it has a Bi-Lo wrapper.

I tell em, its just like organic free range eggs vs caged, the only difference is the box they are in and the price:eek:

disclosure: no connection to Bi-Lo, dont even own WES anymore

Try Crazy Clarkes or Chicken Feed shops for cheap chocolate.

You will though have to put up with the dark chocolate looking like white chocolate. May also get a little tummy pain, but what the hell, its cheap.

The Cherry Ripe I ate yesterday had a net weight of 52g. IIRC these used to be 55g. I have also come across packets of crisps at 45g where they used to be 50g.

Beer is another one. Some brands use 335ml bottles in their cartons instead of the normal 375ml bottles.

Dunno about Cadbury's but Mars have advertised to want no more than 250 calories per serve - hence the smaller Mars Bar and red one too. Price prob doesn't move. "health and Wellness" is a big marketing thing for food companies worldwide.

But a lot of companies are reducing amount due to rising costs - especially milk products. Toilet paper has been reducing # sheets per roll for 10+ years. So it's not new.

Just bought a full size pre downsize Cadbury Fruit and Nut in Howard Springs.

Climate change or Weather?

gg

There was a 3rd option - be honest - if they just put the price up a lot of people wouldnt even notice, do you check the price on a block of chocolate ?
I dont check the price of anything though I did get a shock at the checkout recently when I got a Vicks First Defense nasal spray for colds - $17 - I took it anyway.

I still haven't got over the shock when years ago they reduced a bottle of spirits from 750ml to 700ml. That's when I switched to wine. If they ever do it with wine it will be a sad day.
