Bledisloe 2008

lol - like the mitsubishi ad says ,, "game on !! " ;)
hardly an error, hardly a turnover, different team altogether to the one whipt by the boks.

yep (Kiwis win 28-24)
it all changed when they brought on their reserves
one turnover cost us the match
(or even if we'd converted all goalkicks, we'd have won. - Carter better than Gitteau on the night - on most nights )
and in the end we ran out of puff - and we still have Waugh and Dunnnig fresh on the sideline - buga !

the missus reckons Robbie Deans is a Kiwi "plant" lol

ps great match - well done kiwis

Bloody 'ell!

What a game, and it went down to the wire too... you have no idea how nervous I was in the last 2 minutes with the Wallabies penetrating deep into AB territory!..lol. Must have seemed like an 'away" game for the Wallabies, since half the stadium were bloody kiwis...hehe. Looks like our "plant" inside the Wallabies camp is starting to pay some dividends..:D

Whoop whoop!!

hey jman - think on it .. if that first kick by Giteau had cleared the bar, then we could have taken a kick for that final free kick and won :)

As they say - "the bounce of the ball" - or in this case "one ounce too heavy". :2twocents
Giteau obviously prefers to kick from the right (just like the Qantas ad where they all spill their beer) :2twocents

Deans has won 6, lost 3 (think I'm right) - we'll give him a bit more time yet ;)

and you have no idea how noisy it was in this particular household lol. - in extra time no less.

Yeah you're right 20/20,

I had forgotten about that missed attempt until you mentioned it, very likely that it could have ended as you predicted. Lucky for us that Carter had his kicking boots on last night, we needed every one of those conversions to go over. Btw, there is another game in HK this year, Nov 1st I think(?)

And to be fair Giteau was brilliant too - just the one lost chance. - by an inch.

As they say, the first person you pick is your goalkicker, the second is your reserve goalkicker ;)

PS I'd say Carter was on par with, if not just as good as Sir Johnny Wilkinson last night. - Does that mean he'll be knighted.?

world cup ?
when you lost to (?) forget
Your players should have been swabbed after that one..
They all have big houses now yes?

Wow , I had forgotten you are hosting the next one (2011) . Something to look forward to. cheers - better do some work in the garden. Mow the mould on the pavers lol.

(PS was 1995 the year the boks kept your players up all night with hooligans running up and down the halls in your hotel? )

Rugby union was also played at the Summer Olympics, first appearing at the 1900 Paris games and subsequently at London in 1908, Antwerp in 1920, and Paris again in 1924.[10]

France won the first gold medal, then Australasia,

with the last two being won by the United States.[10] However rugby union was soon removed from the Summer Olympic program.[10]

Australasia ?, .. (you're kidding !? lol)

the last two won by USA ??:eek3::eek:

It's funny how people watch a game and see it differrently than others
I'm starting to think these new rules aren't what theyr'e cracked up to be...
I reckon it encourages teams to cheat at the breakdown and slow the ball down....
Steven moore being one of the worse offenders!

When the ball was recycled quickly there were some beautiful tries...especially liked horwill busting through carters tackle....simple well executed rugby.

Surprised they didn't bring Elsom off earlier it seemed obvious that he wasn't at full health and recovered from his virus that kept him from training earlier in the week.

Player of the match for me Rodney Solialo just does everything so well....covers so much ground...and makes the right choices all the time

J. Kaino's tackle on Moore - should go in every coaches manual

Australian scrum went exceptionally well... I wonder if having Sharpe there might be giving some more oomf to the front row?

Hell I'd give it to Carter.. but certainly the AB's seemed to break through our line easier than vice versa (Tuquiri kept undr wraps etc).

Think I agree with this Sth African commentary on the game... at least as far as "there were no villains of the match". :2twocents

Man of the Match: How do you evaluate it all when the match has so enthralled you, overwhelmed you? You knew the things that Carter, McCaw and Kaino did and you were filled with admiration. And yet all three of those erred from time to time, for rugby football is played by human beings but our choice of Man of the Match is a Wallaby - Ryan Cross, the outstanding three-quarter on the field.

Moment of the Match: Ryan Cross's try which set up the thrill of the finish.

Villain of the Match: Nobody.

Ho Hum
Looks like Steyns def Carter in Tri Nations.

Morne Steyn and namesake Francois kicked 22 points in Hamilton as South Africa beat New Zealand to win the Tri-Nations for the first time since 2004.

...and Francois Steyn stepped up to launch his kicking onslaught, landing penalties from 60 and 58 metres to put the Springboks in front and they were never to relinquish the lead.

Exciting stuff?

What's the point of the entertaining play when high scoring penalties from 60 metres out are so decisive?

(Sorry i resurrected this thread and didn't start a tri nations one...doesn't seem to be much interest in RU anyway...I wonder why?)
