Are Quarterly Reports Price Sensitive?

Hi Maltesebull

:iagree: with raider re any results report/ann can be price sensitive, especially if it misses market expectations - up or down.

But I think most investors, fund managers, traders, mum n dad investors etc will pay most attention to the half and full year reports. In the case of retailers like CML, WOW and DJS I think they only mainly give sales results without nett profit numbers and maybe some future guidance in their Q1 and Q3 reports. So these would also be price sensitive if they were significantly off market expectations.

cheers :)

In smaller companies Quarterlies can influence the price drastically. This is because small deviations in revenue quarter on quarter can signal the success or failure of a new project or a company not living up to their proposed timeframes.

Also, resource companies will often show an amount planned for exploration in the following quarter within their quartery cashflow statement. Variations in this amount can signal a new project or near term availability of a rig that wasn't previously known by the market.
