Hope all the ASF posters have a great christmas and a safe and prosperous new year.
I don't know about everyone else, but we are leaving on Sunday for the christmas break.

I must say, I have enjoyed 2013 and IMO there has been some excellent informative posts.
Thanks Joe, for maintaining a terrific forum.

Have a great christmas and see you all next year. You're a great bunch of people.

Merry Christmas to everyone from both me and ASF!

:xmastree

I hope all of our members and visitors have a safe, merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year!

See you all back here in 2014! :)

Yes. All the best everyone. And spare a thought for those who are not having holidays.

Go easy on the booze; enjoy but don't over-indulge as those who work in Emergency don't really want your custom.

And I will be pi$$ing off the neighbours if they stay around. Crank up the amp and play a few crappy riffs on an Epi G400 Pro I have. Me :bad:

Merry Christmas everyone!

And as you'd expect, Smurf has found an appropriately powerful way to celebrate which looks like this.... :D

The back of the house is visible from a nearby highway, hence the lights at the back. The row of white ones totals 1000 Watts (constantly flashing) so nice and bright. Overall there's about 25,000 lights and the average power consumption is about 8500 Watts.

A 11.6kVA generator for rent. Nice slow diesel, low noise (51dB), automatic transfer switch, 15 hours run time on 65 liters. Mate rates. :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay to all.

In the tradition of my half Scottish ancestry, Lang May Yer Lum Reek (Long may your chimney smoke)

I'm hoping for a very quiet and uneventful Christmas afternoon shift at work. Last year we had something start to burn in our comms room and enjoyed the company of a fire unit for an hour in the morning trying to work out what had gone wrong. I bet they're hoping for an unventful Christmas too

Got my Hogmanay off so think I might see the fireworks live this year.

432 MW Gordon power station supplying much of the load in Hobart at the moment. Nice big hydro units running at 272.7 RPM, no noise that anyone can hear (it's underground), automatic transfer via the grid, runs for a whole hour on just 1 billion litres of water and it's remote controlled too. Bargain! :p: :D

Thanks for the thread Sptrawler to you and your family / all ASFers have Merry Xmas, a safe, prosperous, healthy and happy New Year.

You're probably visible from space Smurf, great effort.
Not sure about space but it's definitely visible from the top of Mt Wellington and also from a few points across the other side of the River Derwent.

There's a possum that normally walks along the back fence at night - it knocks the occasional light out of place but no issues apart from that. This possum is a brush tail but I've previously had ring tail possums around - for reasons I'm not sure of they seem to be particularly fond of the red globes (but not other colours) and sit next to them when they're on. I assume they like the warmth and are attracted to the red ones for some reason.

Only other issue is those lights in the bedroom window. About 700 bulbs in the window and they do light up the room quite well. :)

That's lovely, Smurf, thanks for sharing.

Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year to all.

If you are on the roads, travel safely.

Its that time of year when we reflect and appreciate all the important things in life, our family, friends and helping others. If you know anyone that is alone, invite them to pop in too. Peace, love and joy to all.

Thanks Joe for this excellent forum, and to the mods for what they do.
