On opening news.com.au this morning, this is what dominated the main page:

Now I don't begrudge anyone watching BB... but why is this front page news?

What have we become?

..because it make a change from the repetitive newsstories which I have heard nonstop since I arrived in Oz:

i.e, drought,fire,floods,drought,fire,floods,drought,fire,floods,drought,fire,floods etc etc.

So that just leaves pestilence and war? Oh thats right...we do have war.

Bring on the plague, and we'll have a full house!

Looking at te skate boarders harrasig the bishop in Melbourne and then Big Brother RUBBISH one would have to be concerned for the future.

I think Europe is the answer for me. Big Brother, I really don't give a ****!

Um ... maybe because Rupert owns Fox and Fox wants to buy Ten

Also, you're viewing a site driven by advertising for the masses, and the masses love that crap.

Try this one considering your tax dollars are paying for it : http://www.abc.net.au/news/

I guess it makes money! That's the only reason BB exists, and if news corps can make some $$$ to, the so be it.
It's sad to that something so mundane can make so much money, and if society continues the world will become very shallow. Slowly, Australia is catching the US :(

Yes , the minds of most Australians are occupied by newspaper , radio and television.

These three are created by corporations trying to make a profit from their business.

What you see is what you get.

p.s. looks like we had similar thoughts at similar times caleb.

My mind is nearly always occupied with finding ways to get out of work/working... like how to win lotto, rob a bank, or the market ;) Perhaps the media should focus on similar subjects?

Maybe there is hope for us after all...

IT'S time to go ... viewers. As Aleisha the ditzy hairdresser basks in the warm glow of victory on Big Brother, the cold hard reality facing the network and producers is the show has been, in ratings terms, a disaster.

WayneL,

Unfortunately we have to try and put a positive spin on everything these days. Just think, next confrontation you have with a random stranger, they could be an unthinking, BB watching troglodite who is about to be swept away by your logical, intelligent & persuasive argument that leaves them no recourse but to do your bidding.

Feel better?

Sounds good in theory, but I mustn't be logical, intelligent or persuasive enough. :cautious:
