Chinese premier lands in Australia on first such visit in 7 years

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Australia on Saturday on a relations-mending mission with panda diplomacy, rock lobsters and China’s global dominance in the critical minerals sector high on the agenda.
His visit is the first by a Chinese premier in seven years and is expected to pave the way for President Xi Jinping’s first journey to Australia since 2014.
Hmmm Is this when the red carpet is rolled out for these VIP's.

The region has become a flashpoint in the war that broke out in April 2023 between the Sudanese military, controlled by the country’s top commander and de facto ruler, Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, and his former deputy, Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo — a former camel dealer widely known as Hemedti — who leads the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Libertarians will be upset.
Autocracrats will rejoice.

The USA system was created when Kings did rule so the judges decision likely aligns with the aims of the Constitution. The President is a King, but only for the term of his election. The fact that the President can over rule the law and grant pardons is evidence of this.

The President, should he desire, can use the full force of the state to achieve his aims and at the same time crush his adversaries and destroy political dissidents.

There is a Federal law created in 1838 limiting the power of the President to use the army on domestic soil but this decision allows the President to overrule this law.

A very serious hazard that many seem unaware of.

Button batteries should be treated much the same as a firearm so far as young kids concerned - keep them well away at all times.

If swallowed then it's a full blown emergency - call an ambulance but even then there's a fair chance it ends extremely badly.

I'm firmly of the view that manufacturers should not use these batteries unnecessarily for that reason. Eg TV etc remote controls can easily be built to use the inherently far safer and readily available AA or AAA size batteries instead. There's a place for button cells yes, but the fewer of them we have around in things kids are likely to use, the better. :2twocents
