...Arafat....in my day he was the terrorist with the mostest.....bad bad man....next minute...whaat?

I was being cheeky by the way......

Yeh I believe it....

Hey Chops....can't say I have read you before ....nice to meet ya.......I've been off line for a couple weeks due to technical difficulties...but I'm baaack!... have been reading a few of your comments and won't say wether I agree or not but you seem like an interesting person [politically correct...yes?]
Cheers...cheerful

Lol! "Interesting person." Even though I am fairly left, I guess, I am not politically correct... no. I am anti third wave feminism and post-modernism which makes me evil apparently. I am certainly not racist, as you can see on this thread, but I get angry when I can't even say Aborigines make up a disproportionate percentage in our prisons.

And now the Palestinians are stuffed without Arafat... Mainly because he was a Christian Arab... and laregely secular, rather than a muslim. The world missed its chance.

Oh if I'm right you are female...yes? ....Not that it matters.....just gives a general perspective [you know like a face to the name] wouldn't like to imagine you with a 2 day growth or anything hahaha....
Arafat on the other hand is a different kettle of swimmming thingees........
I'm a firm believer of the means does not justify the ends...wot are your thoughts on military coups and the use of force in the political arena?

I could be called 'left' but don't like general labels because I have been known to falll between pretty tiny cracks

Oh my gooodness I just read my last post and thought I would add I'm a chick too.......or am I digging the hole deeper....??????
If not I'm worrying over nothing and I'm a bloke.......????????

What if I told you I once had a huge handle bar mo and a plaited goatie down to my chest? And as a matter of fact, I do have three day growth, LOL!

When have unjustified means ever led to justified ends? I call myself that because at least people know where you stand, or are likely to stand.

Military coups depends on a case by case basis. Thailand for example, was basically done because a corrupt leader wouldn't resign. Cuba, kind of the same. Chile and Fiji however, a different story. It depends whether it is for corrective action, or just control.

Really?

I didn't know that!!

Sorry, you are correct.

I had it on a usually, very reliable source that he was a Christian Arab. That must be where my/ their confusion lies, in the marriage that is.

However, he was Baathist, which is anti theocracy and anti Islamism, and inclusive of Christian Arabs, so it's actually irrelevant because it is a secular movement. This is why, and I'm speculating, there now is such a power struggle between Fatah (Arafat's Baathist Party) and Hamas, an Islamist group.

It is for these exact reasons the US supported Saddam.

This is getting too deep and intelligent.

Yes, much too erudite for you, Rederob.

I think its fair to say the 'intenational outrage' has definitely been dealt with...

From today's Australian....

Snake, whilst I do feel your subject of this thread is way over the top, i strongly support the right of the media (and yourself) to post such issues. Its a lot better if they are brought out in the open...

As you can see, the parents themselves are devastated, and the school itself has been hauled over the coals.

Just like the 'Hilali' sermon, publishing such material further strengthens the voice of moderate islam...

They key is we shouldn't be paiting all muslims with the same brush, lest we succeed in marginalising the whole community and that only leads down the part of further extremism.

This incident also shows non-Muslims superior ability to handle crisis situations.

Nobody got killed over the incident, no places of worship were burned to ground, and no violent protests took place.

So far everything was handled with dignity and constraint.

spoke to soon Happy...

its obvious there are nutcases on all sides... The nutcase above obviously has no idea who Jesus is...

Instead of targeting muslims, i think the real target should be the extremists on all sides who spread hate...

Moderates from all walks of life need to unite to sort this out...

As wayne said earlier, otherwise this is only the beginning of a series of events that could spiral very quickly out of control.
