Lol! "Interesting person." Even though I am fairly left, I guess, I am not politically correct... no. I am anti third wave feminism and post-modernism which makes me evil apparently. I am certainly not racist, as you can see on this thread, but I get angry when I can't even say Aborigines make up a disproportionate percentage in our prisons.

And now the Palestinians are stuffed without Arafat... Mainly because he was a Christian Arab... and laregely secular, rather than a muslim. The world missed its chance.

Oh if I'm right you are female...yes? ....Not that it matters.....just gives a general perspective [you know like a face to the name] wouldn't like to imagine you with a 2 day growth or anything hahaha....
Arafat on the other hand is a different kettle of swimmming thingees........
I'm a firm believer of the means does not justify the ends...wot are your thoughts on military coups and the use of force in the political arena?

I could be called 'left' but don't like general labels because I have been known to falll between pretty tiny cracks

Oh my gooodness I just read my last post and thought I would add I'm a chick too.......or am I digging the hole deeper....??????
If not I'm worrying over nothing and I'm a bloke.......????????

What if I told you I once had a huge handle bar mo and a plaited goatie down to my chest? And as a matter of fact, I do have three day growth, LOL!

When have unjustified means ever led to justified ends? I call myself that because at least people know where you stand, or are likely to stand.

Military coups depends on a case by case basis. Thailand for example, was basically done because a corrupt leader wouldn't resign. Cuba, kind of the same. Chile and Fiji however, a different story. It depends whether it is for corrective action, or just control.

Sorry, you are correct.

I had it on a usually, very reliable source that he was a Christian Arab. That must be where my/ their confusion lies, in the marriage that is.

However, he was Baathist, which is anti theocracy and anti Islamism, and inclusive of Christian Arabs, so it's actually irrelevant because it is a secular movement. This is why, and I'm speculating, there now is such a power struggle between Fatah (Arafat's Baathist Party) and Hamas, an Islamist group.

It is for these exact reasons the US supported Saddam.

I think its fair to say the 'intenational outrage' has definitely been dealt with...

Expelled Muslim boy's father blames school
Cameron Stewart
December 08, 2006

THE father of a Muslim boy expelled for urinating on the Bible, burning pages from it then spitting on it has lashed out at the school, saying it failed to protect and control his son.

And the accused boy, 13-year-old Ibrahim Cukovic, has spoken out for the first time, saying he regretted his involvement in the incident, although he claimed it was another boy who urinated on the Bible.

"It was a real bad thing that happened," he said in an interview with The Australian at his house in Fawkner, in Melbourne's north. "My parents always teach me to respect other religions."

Ibrahim, who has remained at his home since being expelled last week, appeared sullen and withdrawn as he spoke about the incident, which has shocked the nation's Muslim community.

Another student has been expelled and a third suspended from the East Preston Islamic College over the incident.

"It has been difficult for me because I am putting the family under pressure and I feel bad," Ibrahim said.

When asked why the boys chose to desecrate the Bible, Ibrahim shrugged his shoulders and said he did not know.

But his father, Omar, was angry at the school, which he said had failed to properly supervise the boys on a rural school camp last week where the incident occurred.

In disgust, he has withdrawn all of his five children who attend the college and says they will no longer go to an Islamic school.

"I do blame the school because they should have looked after them better and supervised them more - they let those boys run amok," he said.

"My children are my responsibility when they are at home with us, but once they get on a school bus they are the school's responsibility." Omar said news of his son's involvement in the desecration had devastated the family.

"It was the last thing I expected in my life with my own children," he said, throwing his hands in the air.

"As parents we definitely have to share the blame, but what children do behind our backs we don't always know. When I heard about it I felt like a ton of bricks fell on my head. I hope he has learned a valuable lesson - and the school, too."

EPIC principal Shaheem Doutie said the school community was shocked by the desecration and said the college placed great emphasis on religious tolerance.

However, as revealed in The Australian yesterday, the school's library contained a video of a banned cleric calling Australian Christians "evil" and non-Muslim schools "sewers".

Although the radical tape, of Abdur Raheem Green, has been shown to some students at the school, Ibrahim said he had not seen it.

Omar, a retired taxi-driver of Albanian origin, said that although his family were Muslim, they had a Bible in their house and that his six children were taught to respect all religions.

"The Bible is also God's revelation, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and if you abuse these books as a Muslim, you are out of Islam," he said.

"I was taught that we are all the same - brothers and sisters in humanity."

A school report into the incident said Ibrahim was the "main perpetrator" of the desecration, and that he urinated on the bible, burnt pages from it and then spat on it.

Ibrahim disputes this.

Snake, whilst I do feel your subject of this thread is way over the top, i strongly support the right of the media (and yourself) to post such issues. Its a lot better if they are brought out in the open...

As you can see, the parents themselves are devastated, and the school itself has been hauled over the coals.

Just like the 'Hilali' sermon, publishing such material further strengthens the voice of moderate islam...

They key is we shouldn't be paiting all muslims with the same brush, lest we succeed in marginalising the whole community and that only leads down the part of further extremism.

This incident also shows non-Muslims superior ability to handle crisis situations.

Nobody got killed over the incident, no places of worship were burned to ground, and no violent protests took place.

So far everything was handled with dignity and constraint.

Islamic school official bashed by 'Jesus'
December 11, 2006
A BOARD member at the Melbourne Islamic school which recently expelled students for desecrating the Bible has been bashed by a man calling himself "Jesus".

Samir Mohandis, a member of the board of the East Preston Islamic College, said he suffered head injures during the attack by an unknown assailant who entered the schoolground about 4.45pm on Friday.

Mr Mohandis told Southern Cross Broadcasting the man claimed to be Jesus.

Police said the attacker, a man aged in his 30s, appeared to have been holding a firearm.

The assailant was not known to Mr Mohandis nor did he say anything to indicate the attack may have been racially motivated, a police spokeswoman said.

Mr Mohandis said security at the school would be increased.

“I still have scars to my head,” he said.

The attacker is described as being about 180cm tall and of muscular build with a tattoo on his right forearm.

He had straight dark brown hair and at the time of the incident was wearing a grey t-shirt and dark trousers.

Anyone who may have seen the man in the vicinity of the school around the time of the incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Two Muslim students were expelled from East Preston College earlier this month for urinating and spitting on a Bible and then setting it alight.

At the time, the college head, Shaheem Doutie, said the incident was isolated and the school had done all it could to punish the people involved.

its obvious there are nutcases on all sides... The nutcase above obviously has no idea who Jesus is...

Instead of targeting muslims, i think the real target should be the extremists on all sides who spread hate...

Moderates from all walks of life need to unite to sort this out...

As wayne said earlier, otherwise this is only the beginning of a series of events that could spiral very quickly out of control.
