With the population heading to 9 Billion by 2050, what does this mean for our investments?
Surely, there are many companies in prime positions to benefit from this growth.
Obviously holdings of prime agricultural land in politically stable areas and companies with large resources of Potash and Phosphate are in business areas with a tail wind.
Large low cost producers of energy and materials resources should to well over time.
Companies with strong brands in food production, and companies with key positions in food marketing and distribution should do well.
Even one of my favourite companies "The Walt Disney company" is in a prime position to profit from a growing customer base for it's media content and parks and resorts etc.
Yea, BHP and its potash and energy;
Any company with interests in non renewable resources will be at risk, because as the population increases so does the use of these resources and their eventual demise comes closer.
If some people here could see further than their hip pocket they would realise that population increase brings more problems than it solves.

I found this company a while back, it's a pure play fertiliser company, it mines both Potash and Phosphate and owns and distributes branded fertiliser products. It's current reserves are enough to keep them mining for over 100 years.
It produces 50% of the fertiliser used in the USA and 20% globally.
The Mosaic Company
Also their work in developing countries is ending poverty in the regions and also developing future markets for their products.
It's always been very profitable to solve problems, Neither you nor I can stop population growth. We might be able to find companies that are ready to solve the future problems or supply the needs and wants though, and make a few dollars in the process.
You can't solve problems without resources, and they are rapidly diminishing
Aus ticked over 24 mill today.
Have a guess what the population will be in 1.5 years from now. The answer will shock you.
