What would you take to a desert island?

only problem is the first few months of living off coconuts and whatever seafood you can find.

I am assuming that even though it is a desert island, there is fresh water so would be some grass around for them to eat.

Funny thread

I only need two things Julia.

1. My wife

2. My wifes handbag

My wifes handbag has every conceivable human necessity to enable survival for at least 100 years anywhere.

ps. I had to include my wife cause she never goes anywhere without her handbag !

disclaimer: My wife is actually really nice, and the above is purely a fabrication for entertainment purposes ... particularly if she reads it !

I was thinking of turning Gay, and doing to him what he has done to our country.

Fine Julia, You can come too there's enough Sir O to go around
Gee, thanks, Sir O. With you in charge, I wouldn't even need to bring anything.

Once again, pilots, a display of selflessness way beyond what most of us would consider reasonable.

OK, so you have one wish spare, barney. To whom would you like to offer it?

Has anyone considered whether a mobile phone would work on this island, so you could call for rescue?

How are those of you who intend to fish for food going to avoid the sharks?

Ditto avoiding the venomous spiders and snakes?

1. A gym
2. 10,000 tins of food (mainly salmon, chicken, beef)
3. My girlfriend*

*Disclaimer: This is in case my girlfriend becomes a member of ASF and reads this post. Alternatively, if my girlfriend does not become a member of ASF, then my answer for number 3 is Sarah Michelle Gellar

Who wants to be rescued? I've got you and the Pussycat dolls..what more do I need?

Hello shark...meet large net..and me and the Pussycat Dolls who will drag you out of the water and feast on your flesh. MMmmMMm barbeque shark.
Ditto avoiding the venomous spiders and snakes?

Hello snakes and spiders..aww cannot reach me when me and the pussycat dolls are in our extra-large hammock with bonus mosquito netting. I.E. large nets have lots of uses

Cheers

Sir O

A big spoon

I would take my boat. It has everything I need on board to live comfortably. Stuff the island !

How bizarre! You say there is no food, then say there are berries, coconuts, spiders and snakes! Sounds like a buffet to me! Presumably the snakes are eating something, so I could eat whatever that is too I'm sure there are sticks I can make a fire with, and with a warm climate, I'm not entirely sure you would need to take anything! Can I have a holiday in this place?

And Nun, isn't taking a genie sort of cheating?

WTF!.

hey im king of this island so i gunna make the rules!

no genie no go!

geez if i wanted to live on a nanny run island with outrageous rules and regulations i,d probably have to stay right here in mainland oz

Not all sharks are a threat. Since it is a warm clime then Tigers
may be present but they are not renowned to seek out humans.

Ditto avoiding the venomous spiders and snakes?
Snakes tend to avoid anything larger and again don't seek out human prey while spiders, well one would be have to be unlucky to get bitten by a poisonous one. Highly unlikely

Hmm, as creator of this island, I'm not sure that we're up for royalty.
How would you feel about standing for President, democratically elected?

If you won the vote, then I don't think there'd be any argument about you having the genie.

Proviso: would you be prepared to share the genie?

Sorry to be pedantic ,Julia, but my question has direct bearing on my choice.

How long would one be stuck on this island?

Hello Boyou, I can't tell you that because there are too many variables.
e.g. you may find yourself on the beach just as Trainspotter's supa dupa ship comes past and he will, of course, rescue you: you could find yourself there with saadji who thinks it will be like a four star holiday and he will convince you likewise: you could find yourself with one of the many other practical people who seem to have lots of clues re survival so you wouldn't mind being there indefinitely: or best of all you could find yourself there with Pilots and K. Rudd, Pilots having selflessly undertaken to remove Mr Rudd from Australia for the good of the nation.

I'd say if that turned out to be the case, you'd just have to throw yourself on the mercy of Nun and his genie. You might even have to agree to him being King!

So, lots of delicious choices, huh?

Too much fun Julia!!

This sounds more like a large party than a survival test..

I will just go all festive and take my music ..wine and someone to cuddle

Laughing so hard............

1. a buch of labourers and pavement to demolish the island and turn it into a racetrack
2 a house / garage full over my favourtie dream cars. Mclaren f1 for example. And some go karts and jet ski's.
3. and a huge fully staffed yacht to take me home when i get bored. (might drop by spain and monaco on my way home what do you think?)

Oh and a flag with my name on it to claim the island as mine.

Oh and a flag with my name on it to claim the island as mine.

I,ll fight ya for it.

My amazonian tribe and my cheating Genie would kick your labourers ass

However........... seeing as im a diplomatic King and clearly a fan of peace and love, I will be happy to let you supervise and manage my new race track instead.

2 bisexual brunettes who are expert cooks, cleaners, hunters, masseuses(schpelling??), musicians and talented at, err, "other" things.

A still.

A hammock.

That is all.
