It takes WAY more grain to feed the livestock than if we were to just eat/store the grain itself.
Look I'll cut a long and interesting discussion short. It boils down to whether you give a **** or not about other beings BOTTOM LINE. If you take that seriously, you wont eat other beings.
Anyway as I`ve said before if people just left the Japanese alone, they would probably lose interest in killing whales.

however lately the media has been paying a lot of attention to China, and the thing that really stikes me is how they just want to be like the rest of the western world, well they keep mentioning America and the choices available to Americans.A lot of these problems are brought about by people wanting to be alike, logic doesnt seem to come into the argument really.Imagine if logic played a part in people decision making, obesity would be a self explanatory problem, polution also, instead mention to someone that you have a small car because you really dont need a big car and they will point out ,that to buy a small car costs the same as a family car
In fact in one of the programs a chinese person mentioned having these choices made him unique, and here I was thinking that the chinese were unique,he didnt seem to understand that his choices was making him the same.
Hey just eat a four and twenty pie or some dim sims. Bound to be a bit of rat in them lolHappy said:Yea, some eat: snails, snakes, guinea pigs, frogs, dogs, horses, pigeons, at the same time when some are disgusted with the practise.
Some eat rats, but during Beijing Olympic Games, rat-serving restaurants will be closed or will not serve rat meat due to possible negative publicity.

Hey, do you know what "annoys the hell out of me"? It's people who respond to an argument or discussion with a statement such as "Who cares about problem A? Problem B is much worse!"kgee said:Bottom line I dont give a F*** about whales and these types of politics....
To me there are bigger problems in our society that need addressing
A little plug for father o riley and his "youth off the streets " programme...now here is someone passionate about making the world a better place and I'd imagine one day of his work is much more beneficial than saving a couple of whales
excuse my potty mouth but "middle class" politics annoy the hell out of me
:iagree:The logical conclusion to this mode of thinking is that only one problem at a time would be addressed by mankind - even assuming that everyone could agree on which problem was the worst! The fact is, there are six billion of us on this planet, so surely it's better for everyone if people divide their attention and address the problems that they each, individually, think are worthwhile?

Japan reports high rate of pregnancy in hunted whales
A Japanese Government report has revealed that 70 per cent of whales killed by the Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic over summer were pregnant.
The report reveals that 224 of the 391 minke females and two endangered fin whales killed in the hunt were pregnant.
Nicola Beynon from Humane Society International (HSI) says they also have evidence that the mammals were killed in Australian waters.
"Approximately 90 per cent of all the whales killed in [the] Antarctic were killed within the Australian whale sanctuary and if we can get the whaling stopped that would have a massive dent in the overall hunt," she said.
"Japan is blatant - they openly admit to killing whales in Australian waters, that Australia considers to be its own territorial waters and has declared a whale sanctuary".
HSI will take the Japanese whaling company to the Federal Court in October, hoping for the so-called scientific research cull to be stopped.
