Gees where do I start. Not enough time. Ill be short.ants,by that logic even plants then shouldnt be harvested, they are on the ground they live, pull them up they die. By that logic there would be no living things on the planet.Animals are there for food, our responsibility lies on not making them suffer, because that then impacts on the kind of people we are. Thats what I think anyway
Im sure they would beg to differ. Are we there for food? Would you eat your brother?Animals are there for food

SPECIESISM Is rampant and condoned among the majority of OUR species. Mass murder for food. The science of judging OTHER animals sentience is FLAWED and COLLUDED to say the least.
If one is not embarressed for his or her role then they need to seriously rerate their own sense of worth among intelligent moral beings.

1. Japanese do not really need or eat the whale meat all too much - average punter on the street apparently ate it perhaps once / two times in his life, some never.
2. For Japan its a matter of national pride as they will not listen to anyone telling them to discontinue their traditional right (as they feel whaling is their traditional right). After all, as the interviewed Japanese official put it, whats left of a nation that lost its pride?

What we need to do is not make so much of an IMPACT that we put the earth out of kilter. Apparantly the earth can sustain 3 billion humans (read on a tree hugging site so may not be reliable). I think we are a few over that now which could be a concern for the sustainability of the earth. At the same time, the earh can't sustain too much of other species as well. Perhaps that's why the dinasaurs left us...

The point about the trout (or any other fish for that matter) is also so true.
I can never understand why so many people think it's OK to haul a fish in, while it struggles with the hook through its mouth. Scientific studies have clearly demonstrated that fish do feel pain. I just can't watch all those fishing TV docos where macho blokes (huh?) revel in the "sport" of a fish fighting them for its life. If bullmarket is right and there's another life after this one, then I hope those fishermen come back as fish!!
It's another example of man's exploitation of other species and the planet in general.

1. Plants- animals. Different WAY different. (though some religions even pray for taking a plants life for food).
How do you know ,what plants are thinking or feeling?
Im sure they would beg to differ. Are we there for food? Would you eat your brother?
Your statement beggars more study on the subject. Also going by your logic we would have to rely totally on plants for our food,,what would happen should one year the crops failed, people would die in their millions ask an Irishman ,what happened during the famine, their potatoes failed ,they starved.Mass migration!where would we go in this day and age?
Maybe we could sail to Japan and trap a fewwhat would happen should one year the crops failed, people would die in their millions ask an Irishman ,what happened during the famine, their potatoes failed ,they starved.Mass migration!where would we go in this day and age
