IMO we in W.A were very lucky to get two great Premiers in a row, Barnett and then McGowan, Barnett didn't get any financial support, the mining boom deflated and we were getting about 30c in the dollar from the GST. Labor did criticise him for building Fiona Stanley hospital, Princess Margarets childrens hospital, the Joondalup health campus, the Midand health campus, Perth stadium, the airport rail link, the Muchea Roe highway extension.Had pretty much total power and yet kept to the middle ground got the GST back ran surpluses, built infrastructure, roads etc he also showed how hollow the state Libs had become with COVID shut the gate with the massive majority agreeing those not agreeing weren’t Western Australians they didn’t have the chip on their shoulders.
Retiring at the top of your game is what rare champions do he will go down as one greats of Australian State politics meanwhile the hater’s are going to snipe away as they do

Sorry to say Wanye once again can't even get close to greeing with you about Magnificent Mark. Without him for the past few years life would have been a lot worse for us here.BOOM!
Goodbye to WA’s worst ever Premier, Mark McGowan | The Spectator Australia
Western Australia’s Labor Premier Mark McGowan has resigned after over six years and two months in the job. He said at the press conference announcing his resignation: Maybe he realised we are tired…www.spectator.com.au
And another one bites the dust.WA building company Slatter Group collapses into liquidation
A prominent residential building company has gone bust, with all its phone lines down..
Wayne the Libs you mean that current 2 person opposition party in the House of reps.He didn't even do that well. The Libs did a much better job of that all by themselves.
That is correct will be the 31 State Premier from SaturdayGood morning champions,
Been reported that a Roger Cook may well succeed Mark McGowan as WA Premier.
Kind regards

Yeah them. But that party is no longer deserving of the name. Kirkup et al completely @#$&ed everything up altogether.Wayne the Libs you mean that current 2 person opposition party in the House of reps.

Then fortunately McGowan came in and Morrison gave him the GST deal, funny how McGowan used to take the pizz out of Barnett for asking the Feds for the deal, but that's politics.
He has done a great job of completing the projects started by Barnett and kicking on with new ones, W.A has struggled with infrastructure funding for years, yet they are called upon to pour the majority of funds into the Eastern States so they can build theirs.
With keeping the borders closed during covid, it was one of the first time in the Sate history that all the accomodation in the country towns was booked out, the caravan parks were full, the last thing W.A people were worried about was what the Eastern States people thought, they were only upset because they weren't getting the W.A tourist dollar, big deal. ?
Like I said, IMO a couple of great Premiers who put the State first, I'm sure he will do fine post politics.
It will be interesting to see how the labor factions take to him, McGowan was very center of the road with a leaning to the right IMO, it will be interesting to see where Cook falls on the scale.
Born in Cottesloe, went to Scotch College and represents the seat of Kwinana, there's irony right there. ?
Wayne I think the Libs just set him up because they were on a hiding to hel in the last election. So wet behind the ears and did not have a clue or for that matter any sort of chance.Yeah them. I haven't really followed politicians very closely over the past few years, try and avoid the media generated white noise and judge them on achievements and outcomes or lack thereof.has a foot both sides of the fence. the we are the born to rule lot and the workers burb
If that's true, it's the stupidest thing they could have done; they lost all their core voters, eg people like me.Wayne I think the Libs just set him up because they were on a hiding to hel in the last election. So wet behind the ears and did not have a clue or for that matter any sort of chance.
‘You know how in future the WA Liberal party leader will know that they are under challenge?Interesting times are a'comin. Though i though that Rita might have been a strong candidate
