you can just open a scottrade account and make some deposit, then you are able to see live data and chart.

I've been playing around with ninja trader which is a free application with EOD data from yahoo, then when my IB account is up and running i will be able to connect to it for live data, the charts on it look pretty good so someone has gone to a bit of effort.

I was just wondering what's the catch ? and how do the developers get paid.

I'am just a bit suspicious of free stuff, can anyone provide me with an answer?
