IMO
Universities have become a Government tool, for keeping those who can afford it, at school and off unemployment, for as long as possible.
Now that is something I would demonstrate for.... Well maybe keep the STEM etc courses funded.Defund the Universities.
If only they taught that (especially the Socratic method), rather than Baudrillard, Lyotard, Derrida and Foucault.Yeah who needs people like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle all radical commies
Not inly are they biaised etc but even in stem courses, i judge their administration pathetic at best, disorganised, just money machine ..
And i am talking about one of our top one.
it is before my time here but were unis always that bad here or did it just come with their push for full fees paying foreign students?
That's for the course content in humanities, but as for UQ complete whoring to China, definitively due to foreign students fees.Came with the infiltration by the Marxist left. Nothing to do with fee paying foreign students.

I can kind of understand it.
Where it is really pathetic is that while adopting a business model for fees, in term of mgt and efficiency, it is at best pathetic
How long are we going to pay fees that high for online degrees by our universities whereas we can get the top of the top Harvard or MIT online for cheaper?
They could..should? Become another casualty of the covid19.
I always tell my son, i fo not pay for your learning, i pay for you to meet and interact with your future network of friends and free thinkers colleague..but with online only degrees.. what is the point?
Defund the Universities.
The reality is the universities were once elite institutions, that employed the top lecturer's in their field, to nurture the next generation of extremely high achievers.China is communist, Marxism is communist, ergo.
Agree that Universities are a waste of money at moment.
Other businesses will appear, offering online courses, cheaper and better. Only a matter of time.
Defund the Universities.
Sure ask my son who has just completed a semester, dual degree one in engineering without a day on site from memory 6k per semester for recorded courses..would you go that way @SirRumpoleFund them properly.
You can't do prac subjects like lab work online and contact with tutors is important.
Some subjects may be suitable for online, but it's not a complete replacement.

Is the solution giving them more money? engineering is heavily gov subsidized, the salary of the Chancellor is in million per year
You are left, where fo you think is the problem? Funding?
Oh i did not include in the salary the envelopes of the CCP...
Enough to vomit, but must be me
I indeed believe he does not get his money worth..that is for sure, luckily, he is working in parallel in an engineering firm where he not only learnt but get paid...so I believe he will be rightYes the universities are gravy trains for ex poltical hacks like Julie Bishop, funny how they just walk out of politics into a cushy uni job isn't it? So the government needs to take back control of the unis and not let rent seekers fill their own pockets. Courses that provide needed skills for our own citizens, not drop ins. Pay Chancellors $200k a year max.
I'd doubt if your son is getting a good deal, all theory and no practice just creates big headed graduates who think they know everything but really have little idea of things actually work.
Universities are now places where your children are indoctrinated instead of educated.
True.children are being indoctrinated at school, Unis are indoctrinating adults
