TSLA - Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ)

Tesla taking off in China, TDS reversal in China?
Do they see it as some level of support?
that would be from increased competition from the various local makers , they would at least be price competitive ( many customers wouldn't need all the bells whistles and cameras ) so a cheaper look-alike would be appealing to some

sure there might be some nationalistic backlash , but i suspect better value ( in the buyer's eyes ) would be the major factor

the EU is going broke , they won't be able to afford bicycles or Starlink soon ,

If Musk really cared about Tesla, backing Trump was a really dumb move, a climate change denier and pro fossil fuels, drill baby drill mentality. His big mouth on X doesn't help either, upsetting customers and sponsors. I think he should resign like what Bill Gates did with Microsoft, Gates was being investigated for inappropriate conduct by Microsoft, when he chose to resign instead. I don't think Tesla will ever recover as long as Musk is in charge and he keeps pissing people off and making enemies.

No. I purchased shares several years ago. The only downsides were the ridiculous amount of capital gains tax. And my accountant and financial advisor stuffed up the calculations for my super contributions, last week I received notice from the ATO informing me of that and of the amount I now owe them in tax.

They say that is a good problem. I usually would agree, if the government spent our tax dollars wisely. But they don't, and now they are hell bent on turning us into a socialist country of the view of the Greens and extreme left unions.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother working.
It could be time to pause step back , and indeed ask yourself the question;
Then spreadsheet and data input will show you the Answer.

Then don't stress about TSLA, you have nothing to worry about when you have no skin in the game. Your time is better spent offering advice on ASX shares that you own or are looking at, I'm sure most ASF members would be more appreciative of reading something that you have more knowledge on.
only academic interest here ( for me ) i hold several car/motorcycle related stocks ( APE , MTO , TRA , and PWR ) , so Chinese v. other makers is the important trend for me

I don’t believe he’d get as good a salary as a public servant so it is unlikely, Mick.

Next time he’s in the Ross Island Hotel I’ll pass your suggestion on to him.

I don't think Musk is motivated by money.
For him it seems to be a means to do the things that are important: the engineering stuff to build cars, spaceships, and boring machines, the software for driving cars and creating AI systems.
With Tesla, what is there still to do, build electric bikes or maybe speedboats?
Let Tesla go, save the cars from been vandalised by dickheads, and find something else exciting to build.
I bet he will tire of the politics of getting DOG to do what they want, he will be "retired" in six months when all the hard stuff is done.

I have contemplated it over the past 6 or so months. However, at 57 I still have a few years on the planet and a business with staff members that I care about. I am instead preparing one of my valued members for a possible handover in several years.

Some days I become very frustrated by government's disrespect at how they spend the tax dollars of working people. I have worked hard all my life, a minimum of 50 hours per week, saved and invested so that I could support my family and retire comfortably. And then I am required to pay ever increasing amounts of tax, levies, rates, etc while I see wastage and brain farts for ideas from governments and other authorities with no accountability. That is when I wonder, why am I doing this, why am I increasing my profits to give bigger amounts to wasteful organisations?

Working for the government is a much better plan.

I think the whole thing is manufactured outrage to a degree. We have seen this happen out of the left before. They run with hiveminded narratives that can flip on a dime.

Once it becomes "unpopular" they will scuttle off again.

Geebus, that's a bit rude.

As the big boys depart, the retail investors pile in.
According to a JP Morgan analyst, even as they downgrade the Tesla Sp expectations, retail buyers are pouring in.
Most times the big boys win.

Tesla has a gamestop like following. I was expecting sub $200 about now.
For now the news cycle has already churned.
So need to wait on the next outrage point.

A couple of lunatics have been arrested for firebombing the LA tesla dealership, and another Trans activist has been arrested for chucking molotov cocktails ate Tesla dealership in northern Colorado.
They will be the next outrage point for the other lunatics to rally around when they go to court.

Na that's a positive for law and order. There were threats of following the money as well. Reid hoffman and soros broke out in a sweat pretty quickly, so it may back off a bit. I'd say they will try a different tactic.
One of the reasons the stock is sticking is there seems to be some fightback against it.

I was worried about negative press and loons back in nov-dec. Not so worried now as I think they are starting to get a handle on it. $150-$170 I'll probably start filtering in depending on climate.
