TLG - Talga Group

is it 400 million they need, to get the plant up and running?
- SPP opens Monday, 6 Nov 2023
- SPP closes Friday, 24 Nov 2023
No fence sitting needed.

After the previous SPP that filled and closed early, I wonder what retail punters are planning? After the customary drop at launch to close to $1.00, TLG has displayed surprising (to my eye) strength.

.
I put in for 10k, and have paid on 8th. With SP holding, retail should be lining up. Assuming SPP is oversubscribed, there are three main scenarios.. close early, run till 24th and dial back, or accept extra inflow.

I guess it's wait n see.
.
I even received a confirmatory email, which is a first.

somehow, Talga are not communicating clearly.
.
The SPP, targeting A$15 million, closed oversubscribed on Friday 24 November 2023. In light of the strong shareholder support and to further bolster the Company's balance sheet, the Talga Board has exercised its discretion under the terms of the SPP to increase the offer size to A$19.0 million and to scale back applications in excess of this amount.

and that's it. No formula. Wait for statement / refund in bank acct.

It's hard work! Business has already burnt thru more than half the cash they raised last year, shareholders being continually diluted by CR's to support the cash fire.

...and another CR diluting shareholders further. This one costing shareholders over 5% of their capital. Its something it took me a while to learn, have the patience to wait until the capital raisings finish before taking a position in speculative plays.

My pick. Raising has happened, oversubscribed.
Price has fallen a long way, hopefully go back on the upward trajectory. Collect monthly prize.

i do think this has now become a pretty safe investment, with a 2 year time frame. i will keep my eye on it.

SP still falling . The fly in the ointment is the continuing appeal against approval of the whole operation which has now gone to the Supreme Court. Have to say I just cannot see the overall political/environmental merit of stopping this project. Sincerely hope the delays don't hamstring the project.

I did come across another forum which had further information on the status of the appeal. There is some very direct comments about the protesters.

TLG hit a new 52 week low.
Am extremely grateful I did not participate in the oversubscribed SP.
Might start nibbling some more at these low prices, but we don't know how far it will go down.
Aint no charting expert, but the chart looks less than ideal.

Very disappointing and concerning. On paper it all looks great - except for the "small detail" that the project that will offer exceptional value to the company and the EV industry is stalled with this Supreme Court appeal. We can only hope that

1) The case is quickly and positively expedited
2) Talga doesn't go under waiting for the outcome.

Another 52 week low this morning to fall to 0.755
There must be some gnashing of teeth and renting of garments among those who took part in the recently oversubscribed SP at 1.00.
2 years ago it hit an intraday high of 2.22.
Thats a big cap loss for those unfortunate enough to have kept the faith.

Interesting and detailed thread explaining why TLG is over valued.

"Investors are finally starting to wake up to $TLG.ASX being overvalued The company plans to be the first fully integrated mine-to-anode player in Europe. This is of prime strategic importance, and the project is of high quality, but the economics don't add up Let me explain."

Followed by lots of detail in the link, concluding with,

"I will provide some examples on how this could unfold later. However, for now, in this pre-production state, Talga won't be able to compete with Chinese prices. Therefore, for as long as there are no concrete support packages in sight, I would advise to stay clear of this one."

I think/hope that the TLG mine to anode project will be commercially successful - as long as it proceeds. The issue at the moment is the hold up with the Supreme Court appeal against the project.

I wasn't able to see the full details of the analysis offered by Galumay. If you have a direct link that would be appreciated. I suggest one of the critical issues for success is the fact it is a European operation. There is much concern about reliance on Chinese resources for such important elements of the battery revolution. In any case other reports indicate a looming shortage in battery anode production.

Anyhow I have picked them again for the CY 2024 comp.

TLG hit (another) 52 week low of 60.5.
The SP at the last cap raising was around 1.12 when the target price of 1.00 made it look like a good stag profit was available.
So it is down nearly 50% since the cap raise.
I took a loss on this one, but it would have been a bigger loss had I taken up the cap raise offer and held on .
good luck to those still in it.

TLG SP looks a mess doesn't it ? The hold up with mine development has undermined investor confidence.
I came across another stock discussion website which has substantially more discussion on the legal ins and outs of the mine approval. As we are aware it the Supreme Court has been asked to grant approval for an appeal. No approval for an appeal and its all systems go.

I will copy and paste a couple of recent observations from the other site.

mail response from the Supreme Court re appeal status (translated in Google):

Hello,

Case Ö 6624-23 is pending. At the moment, we cannot answer when a decision can be expected to be completed.

Sincerely

Have replied to try and fish a little deeper, will share any response.

Convinced a decision is close.

DYOR.
It may well be that we won't be able to find any information on the internet with our resources. As with the Court of Appeal, the case will only be opened once the appeal has been upheld. Presumably the three antis and Talga will receive the decision at the same time. This means that the first step is whether the Supreme Court allows the appeal or not. I have now combed through the court pages and couldn't find anything interesting

"The court will send you the decision
If the court has decided to allow the appeal, a copy of the decision will be sent to you and your opponent.

If the Supreme Court decides not to allow the appeal, this means that the court will not accept the appeal for review. The decision of the Court of Appeal is then decisive. The decision of the Supreme Court is immediately binding and cannot be appealed.

If the court allows the appeal, the case will be processed further."

The minutes of the hearing are only published four months later if they are considered important or indicative.
Perhaps it is simply in that way that the parties receive an email that the appeal has been rejected and that's it. We won't find anything else on the Högsta Domstolen (High/Supreme Court) website.
so, wait and see...

........................................................................................................................

Thx monkey, that's what I thought of. Sounds like we will get that one too, however it doesn't say how many years it's gonna take. I'm a bit sarcastic here of course with the 'years' part.. but it doesn't seem to be too far off. Especially if they think they can't win so they simply don't take the decision in order to delay it as far as possible. I have lost all faith in the swedish legal process and basically assume worst case here. Don't know how long that is though.

Anyway, is there any other thing we need besides approval of the detailed plan?
The processing concession. What was criticised at the time and therefore the concession was denied to us was the missing Natura2000 permit back then, which we received with the environmental permit later. As this is the last step for Bergsstaten as far as I know I can imagine that they are just waiting for the final judgement of the Supreme Court.

And as WTM said, I see that too. The Kiruna politicians' narrow decision can be overruled by the government. Seriously, ask yourselves why the Swedish government declares things to be of national interest. So that after a years-long approval process some local antis can put a spanner in the works of this resource of national interest? I don't think so.

In addition, there is what WTM also noted and that is the ex-minister EN who is now on board. She and the current Minister of Labour are from the same party and in favour of us. So I'm less concerned about the detailed plan.

I had seen a landmark judgement regarding the detailed plan when I was searching the Supreme Court the other day, but I didn't study it because I don't think much about these reasons and I'm not a lawyer. Maybe I can find it again. It is about judgements that serve as guidance from the Supreme Court.

I rechecked the Stock Exchange website. There are multiple threads on Talga and one thread has excellent information on the wide range of development activities the company is undertaking in developing its mining operations. Well worth checking out IMV

It also worth noting that the Talga Board appointed the ex Minister of Labour to the Board. Certainly a way to get political support for the project . I have pasted the relevant post below

.........................................................................................................................................................
You know who performed the groundbreaking ceremony in Lulea, the Swedish Minister of Labor. The one who later sharply attacked his local colleagues from Kiruna for their anti-attitude. And from the same party - here it comes:

"Ex-minister goes to mining company

LULEÅ. Yet another former politician goes to industry. The former Minister of Labour Eva Nordmark (S) will take her place on the board of the mining company Talga.
Published : 7 December 2023

Eva Nordmark (S).

Talga will start mining graphite in a mine in Vittangi and is in the process of building a factory in Luleå, where battery anodes will be manufactured. The entire project, mine and factory, is costed at SEK 6 billion.

Former Minister of Labour Eva Nordmark is now taking a seat on Talga's board. Nordmark also has a background as chairman of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO) (union leader).

"In a short period of time, Talga has grown to become one of Europe's perhaps most important companies for the green transition. Building an integrated, European value chain for battery anodes is as important as it is exciting and I look forward to contributing with my experience on that journey," says Eva Nordmark in a press release.

Another update on Talga progress

Talga chooses Rejlers as partner for digital development in projects for sustainable anode production

FRE, JAN 26, 2024 08:30 CET
Talga is investing in anode production in northern Sweden, which has the potential to significantly reduce CO 2 emissions in the manufacture of electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Rejlers has been assigned to support Talga in the digital development of the project, from preliminary study to finished production facility, with technical support and services within IT ( Information Technology), OT (Operational Technology) and ET (Engineering Technology).

Talga is making significant investments in anode production, which will provide the opportunity to significantly reduce CO 2 emissions in the manufacture of, for example, electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The anode makes up half of the active material in a modern lithium-ion battery. The process is vertically integrated and includes own mining in Vittangi - where some of the world's highest quality graphite deposits are found - as well as material processing and manufacture of anode products at a new factory in Luleå.

Rejlers has been given the assignment to drive and support Talga in the digital development, with technical support and services in the area of IT/OT/ET. These services are linked to all parts of Talga's development, from preliminary study to finished production facility.

In the initial phase, Rejler develops the system architecture as well as the digital models and processes that are the basis for achieving an optimal process for future construction and building production. An important aspect is to create multidimensional information models that give designers tools and choices to be able to choose solutions and find a balance between parameters such as cost, time and climate impact.

- Talga's ambition is to be at the forefront both in terms of planning, products and production process, where we will assist with advice on new technology and innovative solutions, says Amandus Yngvesson, Advanced solutions manager, industrial IT within Rejler's Industry division.

- Building a new and sustainable European value chain for battery anodes is both important and demanding. That is why we are happy to collaborate with Rejlers on IT solutions, says Martin Phillips, European manager at Talga.

- Through the project, we are contributing to the industrial transition where Talga's operations will play a key role for electrification and contribute to a reduced footprint through sustainable, local production, says Malin Ljung Eiborn, Head of Sustainability at Rejlers.

Initial ground preparations have begun for the planned construction start of Talga's factory in Luleå. In its first phase, the factory is estimated to be able to produce 19,500 tons of anode material per year, which corresponds to approximately 16 GWh of battery capacity.

There are a number of Talga threads on that website. It seems to be one of the few stocks that attracts high attention and research.

I agree the conversation in that thread seemed a bit obtuse. A few days ago Mark Thompson produced a tweet and Press Release highlighting a webinar on Feb 1st. The tweet had a few pictures and the posters are all trying to figure out if there are subtle signals-"breadcrumbs" - in the picture to indicate upcoming announcements. It is a bit obscure but who knows. See what you can make of it.

One point that was made in hope was that if/when there is a positive announcement made by the Swedish Supreme Court that allows Talga to begin its project, there will be a number of swift announcements on financing, off take deals, and other partnerships.

Apparently Talga is being shorted at the moment. Do you think there is a reference to that in the Tweet ?
