The reality that so many are unable to reach this simple, straightforward conclusion on a whole range of issues is behind much of society's current circumstances I think.

There's an awful lot of first order thinking going on from people who ought be capable of far better.

I'm a bit more optimistic and think that when things need to get done most people get on with it and sort things out. Of course, there will always be dawdlers, procrastinators, and the daft, but they are usually the minority.
 
It's a very contentious issue, but look at Kgari/Fraser island in Qld for eg, 3 tribes owned it in 3 individual sections, and they all feuded over territorial rights back in the day. So at one point, they stole land from each other or the rights to hunt and live on it, are they going to reimburse the land they've stolen from the other tribes now? The government has also only consulted with one tribe over the current name change but there were actually multiple tribes that used the island, even tribes from the mainland during fishing seasons.

I don't have any problems with helping first nation people as long as the funding goes to a good cause, like education and helping underprivileged people get their lives back on track, not like what you see in a lot of mining towns.
 
We have got to stop referring to indigenous as "first nation".

Notwithstanding their original occupancy on this continent and various demarcations between various tribes and groups, there was nothing about that, that resembled anything like a "nation" in the modern concept... not even in the American indigenous paradigm

I order to accurately reflect "reconciliation" we really should recognise that, rather than imposing European national concepts.

The way I see it, Australia faces many serious problems of an external or global nature and that being so, we really need to get these "internal" matters sorted once and for all then move on.

Whether the Voice is the answer or not I really don't know but we need it sorted and done.

I find it interesting the way when, articulate Black Australia starts speaking that there's a quick clutch for the pearls by the insecure whitey's and every ridiculous tenuous denigration.

I've seen dirt bag communists use black communities for a while.
I ain't a "whitey". Communism is just a sht Ideology when applied to the real world.
It's also a destabilising force for society.
