Mr Ken Wyatt was our Federal member here. I did meet with him over a matter of importance to me. He showed respect and dignity and followed through to get me the answers I was seeking. Whatsmore he WAS when here in WA always available.

The Voice is about advising the government on matters that concern Aboriginals particularly important that happens when forming policy.

That advice will be public unlike now where government can hide behind cabinet confidentiality.

Wyatt is a blue blood Liberal but was shunned in cabinet Dutton and Price have undermined everything Wyatt did.

Decisions like this one in the NT that benefit the welfare of the state /territory are always going to cross "something" that is important to the ATSI people.

I do agree that as the ATSI people control most of the land in the NT (in some way) it is always going to be hard to progress up there without some form of agreement/ payment to them

The lawyers are salivating already
 
The biggest problem ATM IMO, is most argument is based on emotion, as is the vote.
There needs to be a narrative that actually explains how it makes things better than what exists, rather than a narrative that anything is better than what exists.
When actually as has been posted, presentations to Hawke, apologies by Kev, billions of funding and countless corporations, land councils, gathering of elders, Native title, smoke ceremonies, acknowledgement of nation on the ABC endlessly, Primary school assembly recognitions, aren't changing anything.
What do you want the aboriginals to do, or what do you want the whites to do, that they aren't already doing?
Or is there an agenda that isn't being explained, FFS someone fess up to what is actually going on.

IMO there hasn't been a marketing campaign, as @IFocus says anything is better than nothing and to be honest I agree.
But trying to tell people just trust us we will fill in the blanks after the vote, was never going to work.

The majority of Australians who currently live here, are either far removed from those who colonised the country, or are actually from a completely different ethnicity and the only awareness they have of the aboriginals is through the media or from the city urban ones.
So most are probably thinking, why?

The campaign which really is based on a Albo trust me theme, is really a weird way to approach it, unless it was orchestrated to fail IMO.

To get something like this over the line, always needed some meat on the bone, yet none was given, it does leave one wondering.

As usual only my two cents worth and I think whichever way the vote goes, nothing much changes.

On the road so haven’t seen what the media are running for the yes campaign but nothing beats a good negative campaign unfortunately.
After traveling through the NW, NT I recon there has never been a bigger divide between Aboriginals and the rest of Australia the Voice is such a minor step and will fail so I don’t think there is hope such is Australian now.

It’s quite sad IMHO.
 
The only advertising I've seen on T.V has been for the Yes campaign, so I can't really comment on the No campaign.
The only thing I've seen about the NO campaign is Dutton copping heaps in the SMH and the AGE.

I know what you are saying about the aboriginal situation up North, but I tend to think it will be given a higher priority by the States no matter what the outcome.
Canberra do FA anyway, just set up committees, panels, reviews, w@nk tanks and gravy trains.

I personally still think a treaty is a better way forward, where there is agreed compensation paid and a mutually agreed way forward.
The voice is just another apology same as the last two, then you end up at the treaty point anyway, just with another pointless confusion in the constitution. .
 
Is there a fast track Uni course to become a silk. I can see them rolling in the dollar and lighting their cigars with $100 notes.

Smurf I know a lot of people at the coal face plus my own personal experiences and the issues are many and complex.

The Voice wont address the immediate problems nor is it meant to.

As far as change goes to really understand that you need to go to a community and see for yourself.

Just my opinion but I think it is the only way to move forward, the aboriginals are saying they believe that the whites took the land off them without compensation, it makes sense that they will always feel aggrieved until they get compensation.
So IMo the voice is just another band aid to kick the can down the road, I also think it is probably about being able to move the tax cost of aboriginal affairs to someone else, but that's another issue.

The pollies need to bite the bullet and work out with the aboriginal reps a way to compensate them, but also place the onus on them to contribute to furthering Australia's interests in the future, rather than being the problem issue they are ATM on so many fronts.

An analogy would be if the local council took your and my properties, then offered us a voice to council, to air your complaints.
I'm sure you and myself would much prefer that they just paid us for the property, or give us adequate compensation, simple really.

We aren't NZ, we have a much bigger issue than they do and we have politicians on both sides that don't want to change the status quo, plus we really should stop looking to other countries to compare ourselves with.
We aren't doing as well with renewables as Norway, we aren't buying as many E.V's as Sweden, we need to start and realise we are in charge of our own issues and man up IMO.
We are fast becoming the worlds greatest wingers.
 

Yes, so let's just put on a 'rental tax' on every home owner in the country. That would go down well with the electorate wouldn't it ?
