Telemarketers

I actually like playing with telemarkets...

start asking them a series of questions and there anwsers are on the paper that's in front of them

I must agree with everyone that they are the most annoying bunch of people.
I know it's only part of their job to call up, but i hate it when i pick up and even after saying it politely that i am not interested and they keep insisting on promoting the holiday or #*%& like that and ask why your not interested? and don't you like holidays?. I am so fed up with it now i just hang them up if i know they are telemarketers. :swear:

I just hope they get the point when people say they don't want to hear it and delete the number from their database.

The best thing is to get an unlisted number. Otherwise, telemarketers love ringing you during dinner and every chance they get to annoy you.

One of the few calls to come through to me was an Indian chick who repeatedly asked me 'What's holding you back" as I tried to get her off the line. Another call that got through recently started with the guy thanking me for taking the call, calling me someone else's name. He went straight into his spiele without taking a breath, so I just laid the phone down. One way conversations are hard to hack.

Optus - I've generally found them hard to deal with. Their customer service is poor. Like most phone companies, the less you deal with them, the better the (default) service you get.

Honestly, guys. Why do you bother? Just use an answering machine or answering service. Then you need never talk to any of them. You can immediately check and if it's a friend phoning, just ring them straight back. Occasionally if I've been expecting a call and answer the phone and find it's a telemarketer, I just say "I'm not interested, thank you." and hang up.

Yes that's often the solution. Just to be short and quick.

That's the easy part. The annoying this is that they disrupt whatever I'm doing.

But since they still keep doing it, it means that they are still making enough money to make it worthwhile.

I can't believe I said this!

On the third call for the afternoon where you hear that long pause when you pick up the phone, and then the fellow from the Punjab or some other outpost of India, says your name, it just got too much for me.

I snarled "just f*** off" and hung up.

I'm usually polite enough to say "Not interested. Don't call again" before hanging up but sometimes they just try my patience too far.

Its normally from Mumbai.....but you can get your name struck of the list - you need to write to this place ......Grrrr cannot remember its title ....and bingo last of the Telemarketers. Anyway Julia your allowed to type "FLIP " whats the matter dhal.

But!from what I understand that only works for Australia, that thingy does`nt stop overseas people calling
Anyway Julia, who cares they were probably getting your information so they could sell it for 20 dollars,
British documentary

I just ask them to hold on a minute, put the phone aside and forget them.

Just had a call from one of these pests (this one at least spoke English) with that tedious line "This is just a courtesy call". What rubbish. Then "we are providing free information to the public about income tax".
Me: "what are you selling?"
Her: "Ma'amm we're not selling anything. As I said we are just providing you with free information".
Informed her I have an accountant and I hate being called ma'am and hung up.

They make it so much worse by insulting our intelligence with this sort of nonsense - courtesy call, and free information da da da.

Must get onto that Do Not Call Register.

Julia,
if you recognise that they speak english ,meaning Australian, easy to get rid of them, find out on whose behalf they are calling then call the company and tell them that you don`t like being harassed or called for no reason, they`ll get you off their list.
Works for sure,so far i`ve got AGL,optus,ING and others to stop calling.
AGL, actually said that they are not the only ones who make these calls, yes said I ,but I can get to you,so stop calling me.They did.
