I've read a lot about how if you are disciplined and follow your plan/strategy you will have greater success. Provided you have a decent plan with entry and exit strategies and other rules you follow you should increase your chances of staying in this game for the long term. The key being "Discipline".

So I'm just wanting to know from those that have been following a strategy/plan strictly. Have you found success?

Discipline is definitely required to trade successfully ----

Experience is definitely required to trade successfully ---

Its an interesting conundrum that most of our "valuable experience" is learned from being undisciplined :D !!

i personally get someone to give me an uppercut twice a week just to remind me to pay attention

You are talking about a type of behaviour

There are a number ways to change or adapt to the correct behaviours in your case (and 99.9999% of traders generally) you call it discipline.

The best advice I can offer is that you test to death the method you have chosen to establish the correct trading behaviours.

You must, repeat must know what your method looks like inside out recognising failure and success and why it is so.

Knowing what your edge is being crucial and as Linda Bradford Raschke once said if you don’t know what your edge is you don’t have one.

You are then ready to place a trade.
