Full C/Y 2023 Stock Tipping Competition

as did i , but the first bicycle might have helped the calves as well

mind you that emoji has probably gone viral on Tik-Tok by now
I too sold the afternoon paper (The Daily News and Weekend News) here in Mt Lawley for 15 months on the corner of Beaufort Street and Walcott Street. Not a sweat machine delivery but a corner job that required a lot of running in between traffic light changes.
I finally got wht the calves were related to.
I hold/held the most papers sold outside of Perth CBD
Was on that fateful day when JFK was assinated. 365 in a 4 hour stint and a bonus of 10/- from WAN.

CY 2023 Today's Update. I know some have been waiting for this update and some aren't. @Miner still has some bragging rights, especially with picking AZS :xyxthumbs.
Good luck tomorrow as it's the last trading day of the year.

1st - @Garpal Gumnut 24.83%
2nd - @Ferret 22.00%
3rd - @rcw1 20.70
4th - @Smurf1976 16.90%
5th - @debtfree 15.94%

@Garpal Gumnut I think has an advantage, nearly 3% ahead and some dividends as well. @Ferret has dividends as well but @rcw1 only has 1 stock with dividends.
@Smurf1976 has a bag of dividends but @debtfree has no dividends, I didn't think I'd need them, how wrong was I .

@brerwallabi - @Telamelo - @rcw1 or anyone else that wants to answer this, it would be appreciated.

What price do you have for NCM at the close at the end of the last trading day of year 2022 ?
$20.64 on 30/12/22

Have a very nice night.

Kind regards
rcw1

CY 2023 Stock Tipping Competition Update. This is a quick look at the result and it will probably be correct but I will be checking all Starting and Finishing Prices and also Dividends to be added after a bit of dinner as the wife is calling me.

I would say it's more than likely that the winner will be @Garpal Gumnut. Back as soon as I can.

I think the darts team at the RIH are going to have a happy happy hour some time in Jan 24.

The final result for the CY 2023 Stock Tipping Competition.

I've check the leaders prices and also added in their dividends and as I thought no change in the ladder positions.

1st - @Garpal Gumnut with 29.88% including dividends. Congratulations GG, well done. It was a real struggle for most of the ASF Tipsters for most of the year but you picked well for the year that confronted us.

2nd - @Ferret with 26.19% including dividends. A great effort and went very close to turning it into a win.

3rd - @rcw1 with 23.53% including dividends. A good effort as well and with a bit more luck or more dividends would have finished closer.

I'll hand it over to @Sean K to make the wrap up. Also once again Sean, thanks for the sponsorship, I know it's very much appreciated by all. @Joe Blow a big thank you for your support and advice.

Thanks again @debtfree for all your work throughout the year. Your high quality spreadsheets are extremely informative.

They indicate that I'm a 50:50 chance of picking my nose successfully. Two of my selections were in the top10 while two were in the worst 10 for most of the year (29M rallied this week).

To the winners.
Congrats @Garpal Gumnut CVN finally got you something and is rallying strongly now. Unbelievable. The world must be off its axis.

@Ferret , @rcw1 close, but GG gets the cigar.

My thanks also go to you @peter2 for running this comp for the 6-7 years that you did it. It chews a lot of time.
Looking at how you have set up your spreadsheets here and other threads have given me many headaches working out formulas to mimic what you have done.
It would have been so much better and easier had you just handed your S/S over to me but I know that's not how you rock and roll.
Thanks for the push as I've been looking back at these threads lately for more improvements, so as I said "Thanks." :xyxthumbs

Thanks @debtfree for your time and effort; a huge job, well done.
Thanks to @Sean K for your generosity in pledging the prize money.

Well done @Garpal Gumnut, most wise selections. Takes some doing this one ... so you have done extremely well.

Well done @Ferret, not too far away ... at the end of the day and when the dust settles.

All the very best everybody in 2024. The new year is nearly upon us.

Kind regards
rcw1

@Garpal Gumnut please send me your address so I can send you the cheque.

Thanks @Sean K

I hadn't realised that the prize was $1000.00. How generous of you and thank you. I'm a bit blown away really. It is difficult being the leader, particularly in such a close contest and I had resigned myself to being overtaken in the last few weeks by one of the many good contributors to ASF.

Fortunately for me I wasn't.

The 2024 contest will be interesting. Already I noted the discussion whether to go with large cap or small, industrial/financial or speccie. I'm still undecided as many are just looking at the slow uptake in entries. My gut tells me to go with large caps as I see a golden few years for stocks to catch up with physical property and the gains made there to be dispensed to the worthy such as me and fellow ASF members in stocks.

Mr. and Mrs Shopping-Trolley with a million or two to spare, having sold their mansion in Bentleigh East, now in their retirement village, will be eager to buy stock from innocent churchgoing and temperate holders such as those on ASF. Not to mention the family firms and private schoolboy funds.

Anyways, thanks again to Sean and @debtfree, and I enjoyed the run and commentary from my friends on this thread.
