Stockwatch application

I'm afraid I have no idea.

Happy to test anything on my feed though.
But your way way in front of me in programming skills.
I have zero!

Can you tell me where you get your data feed from? That's as good a place for me to start as any.

FYI

Accessing the data stream from Esignal requires the use of some programming software (commonly called an SDK) that is supplied by them to third party software companies. I am currently having discussions with them to obtain use of this SDK.

Tech,

I have received a reply from eSignal and have copied it below. Unfortunately I think the numbers say it all. Sorry I can't go down this road for you.

John

Hi John,

I believe the Desktop API should suit your needs. Users would have to be running eSignal, and there are some limitations in terms of the number of symbols you can track. An application developed with the Desktop API should be able to make and process requests for about 50-100 symbols at a time. This depends on system resources, internet connection and the types of symbols you are requesting. You might, for example, be able to track 100 pink sheets, but only 25 or fewer symbols with the volume of MSFT or the Qs. Just something to consider.

Now, unfortunately, I should tell you that embarking on this project may not be cost effective for you since you are distributing your application freely. There is a $195 setup fee, and subsequent monthly fees of $20/month to use the Desktop API. Additionally, in order to distribute your application a commercial application string is required. There is a $2500 fee for this.

Thank you,
Starr

lol

you're not going to throw in a couple of viruses while you're at it too are you??

jk

anyways ... you've got a lot of competition ... check out the yahoo finance stock watchers ... or ... i would venture to guess that most people use their brokers like commsec or ib or something ... they have good stock watchers ... so i'm not sure if it's going to be useful unless you're going to learn heaps ... which i think is the main aim.

good luck.:)

Since this stock watch application is no longer available for download, I was wondering if there is any software known that will give an audible and/or visual alert when any stock meet predefined criteria.

Yes I know we scan and get news/announcement alerts but a live (instant) alert for any changes to any stock on the ASX like average daily/weekly/monthly volume increased by a certain percentage or maybe a price increase > 20%.

+1.

A program that could alert (sound, picture, email, sms etc) would be very handy!
I know brokers such as commsec offer this; but at a cost.
