Stator Portfolio Management Software - any good?

Does anyone know if Stator can receive your trade information automatically from your broker website or email of contract notes?

No ~ Stator does very little automatically, you can upload trades etc but its a pain in the ass to do, Stator can only export in excel or text yet cant import excel only CSV or text.

Thanks. Sounds useless for me.

Brokers are ****ing hopeless with their statements. Gives me the ****s every tax time. I need something automatic and simple and no broker I know of provides this.

IB

Takes 5 min to print out the years trading.
Simple.

I've got a list of trades. I need net capital gain over the FY. One simple figure you'd think every broker would provide, but no they quote every other goddamn useless figure you'd never use. I'm no good with excel and I can't be bothered frgging around like I did last year. My brokers are going to cop an absolute earful tomorrow.

+1

Bunch of bloody clowns the whole lot of them. Even IB took a fair while... had to sort through a few figures which were very similar

Finally I found something. Taken me all afternoon.

Amscot. If I can negotiate a deal with them for Webiress, I think I'll transfer to them.

Are you using version 3 or still using version 2?

We built an import plugin framework (amongst other frameworks) for version 3 which allows users to design/write/code import plugins against our publicly available application-programming-interface (API).

This means a user is free to create an import plugin to read from any source to import:

- open positions
- closed positions
- the closing leg of a open positions

We have plans to create more import plugins in the future and to extend the existing functionality to support the automatic polling and importing of new position data. We're working on it however if you want to get started writing your own import plugins the information regarding the API is publicly available.

We also provide an example plugin with code so you can see how it's all put together.

For more information regarding import plugins please visit:

Interactive Brokers (IB) are high on our list to support via automated import.

Disclosure: We develop Stator if you hadn't already figured that out!

There is already software at a fraction of the price that does this effortlessly (one click) without having to code anything.

It does cover Aussie tax fine but rather see Stator (being Australian made) have it.

Please make it a one click import from IB's Flex Queries.

Thanks for the reply and information regarding IB's Flex Queries.

We will look into it as it's high on our priority list after we conclude development and documentation of new visualisation functionality that provides free-form visualisation to stock, portfolio and trade data using freely available visualisation libraries.

... More on that new functionality in due course.

If you don't mind, shoot me an email through our website as I have additional questions for you.

Version 2, i tried to do an export the other week so i could test a mirror portfolio only to find that i can export to excel but cannot import from it...i was very surprised, i mean WTF, i was expecting 3 or 4 clicks at best but that was sadly not to be.

3 or 4 clicks to do what exactly?
Did you consider making a copy of the data layer file instead?

Lastly, just keep in mind development work ceased on version 2 sometime ago as all efforts are now focused on the new version 3.

Do what...i wanted to export an owner portfolio and import it to another owner, to manage the (paper) trades differently and compare the results.

I cant see how copying the data layer would help..need to copy just the portfolio part of it, that would help.

What sort of time frame do you intend to have the IB automated import available?

Tax time would become a piece of cake with this.:xyxthumbs

With Stator, does anyone know how to succesfully setup the data templates and plugins for historical data, I've followed the manual as far as it goes but there is a lot of more detailed info and examples missing that would be of enormous use.
In particular I'm using the ascii plugin but setting it up and organising and finding files is next to impossible for me. Very close to tearing hair out and calling it quits and using something else.

Thanks in advance.

Just started using the software and was entering my trades. Have logged an enquiry with Stator about this but still waiting for a reply.

So in the meantime, I thought I'll see if any Stator experts here can help. If you own MQG shares, how do you record the SYD share distribution and the subsequent reduction in the number of MQG shares held?

Thanks.

Hi Stator

What stage are you at with your development of your API for the data import from IB?

Lenny

Highly recommend Stator for serious traders. Performance monitoring is a must.

I'm evaluating Stator and am stuck.
I've read the entire 400+ page PDF doc.
If my questions below are clear (to you) in the doc then assume I'm an idiot and spell it out lol.

1) Norgate as a data source isn't documented, but is in the s/w.
2) So I created a data template for Norgate (and Amibroker) and set Norgate as the default
3) I get a "green popup" when I One Click refresh the price data, so no errors reported by Stator
4) But in charting the data is incomplete - it does not run to today

So, do you have Norgate working as a data source for Stator? If not, what are you using for your historic and current pricing data source?

The doc makes it look easy enough to import trades from CSV, and it's easy enough to save the XLS exports from my broker as CSV. I do wonder if I import an export from my broker in 31Jan, then the export from 28Feb, whether there will be double entry of trades in the Stator db? IOW is it smart enough to know just to import the new trades?

I emailed Tony 2 weeks ago but no reply yet. I do understand being busy but am still disappointed. The clock is ticking on my trial.

I was hoping to use Stator to paper trade some systems. I'll use my IB demo account instead or else dust off Share Trade Tracker. Using my IB account may be the wiser approach anyway to work through all the moving parts of trading these potential systems - set up Basket Trader, etc, etc.
