I am at the point where I need to get some software to filter stocks etc.

I intend with my SMSF to buy and hold, but my personal stocks I would like to trade on a 1 to 12 month holding time.

I have considered software such as Incredible Charts which looks like it would be OK for now, but, reading through older posts here it seems it may be a bit limited in what it can do if and when I get deeper into it. I don't want to get familiar with a system and then need to change to a better system and be set back.

As it stands, Amibroker is my preference, based on comments here and elsewhere.
I haven't found a negative review.

Data provides are not so clear a choice.

I am heading towards changing my broking (Selfwealth) over to Interactive Brokers and therefore making them my data provider. I have looked at their website but their services are a little unclear on a few things such as in EOD availability time.

I would appreciate any comment, tips etc on
The Software choice
The Data Provider
IB as a broker or other broker
Possibility of live data down the road a little

Thanks and cheers

Hi
I use Amibroker and happy with them too
As a broker, bell direct
But they do not advance fund so you need to sell before a buy unless you have cash available before
Can be tricky if doing buy sell at open to swap shares in a portfolio

For me I use AmiBroker and Norgate ( https://norgatedata.com/stockmarketpackages.php#austocks ) and can not fault either.

I have the Gold data package but Silver would probably be fine.

I am looking at IB as it can link with AB but am yet to get this sorted, probably in the next couple of months ( over xmas ) I will get this done, but currently just use Commsec as I don't trade to frequent.

When you add it all up it does look a little expensive but for me it has been a good learning curve that made me dig a little deeper in a couple of topics. Still adjusting the system but I think that will never end.

Good luck !

AmiBroker with Norgate Data for me too

Another happy Amibroker and Norgate Data user here. Both offer free trials to try before you buy.

While there is lots of help available if you don't have any programming skills the learning curve can be steep depending on how complex your filter rules are but the same can also be said for the alternatives.

Norgate also don't have live data
