Really rough and sad stuff. Unfortunately I guess that there has always been sick and dangerous people around and I suspect an audience that is both appalled but perhaps a bit voyeuristic about such events? Think about the old Truth magazine and similar lurid newspapers.

I feel uncomfortable about giving these sort of actions much publicity. I think it can only attract the attention of those who are already unbalanced.(For instance newspapers do not make big reports on suicides because it has been proven that such reports encourage more more to kill themselves..)

Also please don't start talking about "vigilantes and street justice." When I hear those words all I can see is tortured and burnt negroes hanging from trees with lots of smiling people around them. And it has happened in our life time. :mad:

Dont know how you can make that connection at all, where was the justice in killing innocent people because of their race ? we mean dispensing justice where our pathetic justice system fails regularly.

Isn't it up to parents to educate their children about sex and what's appropriate? By 12, a boy or girl should know what sex is and when it's appropriate.

Wasn't there something on the news the other night about a guy who's son was molested, so the guy bashed the offender and now will probably spend more time in jail than the offender.

From memory the molester was released with little penalty due to being bashed.

It's no joke when you consider the Civil Liberties background of the Judge.

Back to His Honour Judge Dearden. Judge Dearden was appointed by the Queensland Labor Government to the District Court on 28 February, 2005. In his speech at his swearing in ceremony he spoke about his life experience. He was involved in student union politics and he worked with the Legal Aid Office as a solicitor.

He moved to Terry O’Gorman’s law firm. For 20 years he was an Executive Member of the Queensland Council for Civil Liberties – he was its President for 11 years. In his speech he said his work at the Council was “to protect the rights and liberties of individuals in a world where such rights are under constant challenge. I personally see a commitment to the protection of civil liberties as a positive attribute for a judge of this or any other court.”

His Honour gave a speech at the 30th anniversary dinner for the Caxton Legal Centre. He spoke about the Centre’s early days – it started with a desk and a filing cabinet at the Baroona branch of the Labor Party. He spoke about Peter Beattie and Di Fingleton working at the Caxton Legal Centre.

His said “we have increasing prison populations and civil liberties under threat.”

But perhaps the most prescient remark he made at the speech is this – it explains a lot about where we are as a state. “A key measure (sic) of the changing world in which we live are the ever increasing numbers of ex-Caxton employees and volunteers now in positions of authority in legal, political and judicial life.”

The connection is the concept of street justice and vigilantism being an acceptable way to run our society.

I can appreciate how people feel, but letting people run amok to dispense "justice" as they see fit is just anarchy. At the moment for example there is this person running an inflammatory web site in Melton, Victoria that encourages people to abuse people they don't like and then allow them to post phone and address details to encourage others to continue the abuse ! Is this reasonable? Is it justice ? Can we see the obvious consequences ? (Mind you I suspect the website site owner is in line for a Darwin award if he keeps this up...)

So what because our prisons are increasing in population, we should let criminals walk? I mean im not a parent, but if someone molested my kids IN MY OWN house, i might lose it too. If remember correctly, didnt the molestor say something along the lines of it being a minor offense? and how he shouldnt go to prison as if he was the victim in this. If you dont want to get bashed, heres a tip; stop molesting kids.

And there is no penalty for ' h a l a l ' meat preparation.

Cuts throat and says payers while blood drains.



Doesn't it fall into animal cruelty category?

Why we have to put prawns in freezer to make it more humane and this cruelty can go on in the name of what?

unfortunately the police do nothing more than enforce traffic offences these days (a task which they execute with extreme prejudice) so people feel they have to band together for protection. we've seen the cronulla riots and now indians in harris park having to get together and violently defend themselves because the ground police are too hamstrung by procedure and political correctness to do anything, and senior police are nothing more than self interested bureaucrats who are happy to fudge figures to improve their own prospects for promotion. meanwhile criminals act with impunity.

it is getting to the stage where people should be banding together into community militia to sweep the scum out of their streets, but i can guarantee the police will be more than happy to come in and curbstomp fed up citizens defending their areas, because the state just cannot stand any threats to its power. the state will however continue to allow criminals free reign to terrorise decent, law abiding citizens.

youtube and our own recent examples provide ample evidence of police ignoring real criminals while ruthlessly suppressing expressions of anger by neglected and rightfully outraged citizens. the police seem more than happy to wade into crowds of indians or aussies with batons but try and take on the gangs in south west sydney and they are busy hiding behind their desks.

the current state of public order and law enforcement is a disgrace and when the state fails to fulfill its fundamental obligation to provide its citizens with security, then the citizens have every right to band together and provide their own.

No the site is a bit of a let down. I went to it expecting wall to wall abusive posts. However once again the media has beat it up and made a story from nothing. they also gave this guy a lot of free traffic.
