Hi,

What are you using for portfolio management?

What im looking for is something to:
*Record Entry/Exits dates and prices.
*Work out position sizes, win%, R/R, average trade length, etc.
*Track monthly, yearly performance.
*Log of closed trades.
And more.

Stator looks okay from the website.

Any ideas?
 
Excel is best if your a wiz at it as you can setup what you like.
Stator is the best if your not a wiz at Excel. :

I am interested in anyones perception of :-

Manage Invest Portfolio Manager: For all asset classes inc real estate, shares, options, CFDs, futures, warrants.

With the stock market changes at present, an alternative trading vehicle is becoming more popular and a portfolio manager that handles "all asset classes" a necessary requirement for me.

Any feedback (dislikes?) is much appreciated.W

Hi Nizar,

I asked a similar question a few months back and the general concensus was that Stator was the one to use.

I will almost cetainly buy Stator if it can interface with my Bullcharts software, whose data format uses Microsoft SQL

Guys, in future if you want to discuss Stator on ASF just use 'Stator' as the keyword and do a search- you'll find quite a few posts on it here on ASF, it's that simple!

Thank you for your patience.

I have no problem in visiting the stator site - but their website does not provide any contact details (at least as far as I can see??)

Maybe I should download one of their demos and thus hopefully obtain a contact

I have read their literature and it meets all my requirements, plus it has been well received by other ASF members - and the licence fee is very reasonable.

Its my understanding that Stator uses your data base to automatically update your Stator portfolio(s)
Please correct me if I am wrong

It reads Metastock Data or can connect to Yahoo for data updates as far as I am aware.

Does anyone have any experience with "ManageInvest". Some feedback from users would be appreciated. Also if you could provide any comparisons with "Topshare" and "Stator". Thanks.

Its amazing the depth of info available in the archives of ASF

It's my pleasure, guess that's partly what I'm here for so feel free to ask for help when you need it. As for the search function- remember that you can sort your results by post if you use the correct option before you submit your query. That way you don't have to wade through each thread if you're looking for very specific info.

That phrase you used refines the search a bit more and is probably more effficient . If you mouse over the 'About Us' button on the Stator home page you will see the 'Contact Us' link: http://www.stator-afm.com/stator-contact.html In my experience, their replies are timely and helpful.

NB. Joe has collected a lot of great threads in the Announcements Forum on how to get the most out of ASF, so please invest some time there and you'll be happily surprised at your discoveries.

Hi everyone ... first post here ..but have visited often and have read just enuff here recently to start to get totally confused .... ;0 .....

by way of background ... i am not a short term trader at all ... i am more interested in long term investing ... and ahve about 8 years experience at this, but with very limited numbers of transactions - see following......

because i am not a very confident investor, i usually build up high cash levels (cause i always think that the market is "too high) and then swoop in at times of panic when the market drops a lot and buy up big based on whatever stock magazine article tips or tipster newsletter tips or investing book that i have recently read .....

i rarely sell shares unless there is a huge change in the fundamentals ... i think that the last lot of shares that i sold was awb just after it became apparent that the bribe scandal thing wasn't just going to "go away" ....

overall, this approach seems to work .. in that i rarely show a loss, and have some pretty reasonable gains (i think) .....

but i suspect that i could do a lot better if i paid more attention to what i am doing .. and i feel that i need to be a more systematic and work to a plan rather than being reactive ... and i definately need to be a lot more organized with my record keeping ......

so my point in saying all that was to point out that i am not really looking for software to manage in the sense of "day trading" .....

just something simple to record when i buy and sell shares, what quantity i hold, what dividends have been payed, how much cash is there, am i invested over several sectors etc .....

i also read somewhere recently of a portfolio manager that was capable of automatically "entering in " all the dividends, splits etc that you should have received from the time that you bought the shares - for dummies like me that haven't kept all their paper work in order .....




and it would be even better it it had some basic fundamental analysis capability that helped to identify long term "good value" shares that might be worth investing in ....

i have searched here, googled it, yahooed it ... but still can't seem to find any reference to the sofware that enters the dividend info automatically

.... an ideas anyone? ..... and any suggestions as to any portfoloi managers that include fundamental ... and perhaps very basis tech analysis ability ...
