A few decades ago a saying in relation to gambling was:

"Pokies for Pensioners
Gee Gees for Workers
StockMarket for Professionals"

Of course it was referring to the cost involved in joining the GAME.

Seems all these decades later nothing has changed, if anything it has become more pronounced .

Any thoughts or comments?

Pokies are not gambling. They are "throwing you money down a well" thing.
Gee gees are gambling but you do get a run for the money you will eventually lose.
The stock market may or may not be gambling. It depends on how much risk you want to take or how quick you try to get rich.

FOOTNOTE :

Of course I should have added that all participants in all three sectors will virulently deny that they are gambling --- they will always tell you that it's Entertainment, Calculated Risk, Challenge or Investing -- and S/M investors/traders seem be the worst offenders of self denial.

Sports betting is where I gamble most of my money.

I've done alright recently. I picked the demise of the Aussie cricket team quite well..
