its a business
start up is about 250k, people from outside somalia fund the operation..
with the capital you go the port where they operate and set up the services,, you negotiate with the pirate syndicates, you get boats, speed boats and men and weapons.. once the operation is funded it then gets underway..
then its a matter of finding the right vessel, you looking for shipping from prosperous regions, and you look for a reasonable container ship if you can..
some of the kids have no clue what they are looking for, others are better at it..
once you get the ship, then the shipping company will be informing the insurance company of the situation,, a reasonable ship will be 13 mill all up in vessel and cargo..
you then get a friendly call from the pirates a few days later, once in port..
the pirates keep the service going while they are in port, with more men on board in rotating shifts to secure the ship.. they set up phones and faxes on board
the shipping company gets the insurance company to take over, they put forward a skilled negotiator..
the pirates will ask for $7 $10 mill for a average container ship,, the negotiator will work with the very friendly somalians,, most times they will get 1 -2 mill
the shipping owners get the payout transfered to their accounts from the insurance co, they withdraw the cash, place it in a sealed container, fly over the ship and drop the cash into the ocean. the moment that happens so does something odd
all people connected to the investment come to the ship. the men involved all have time sheets and each get paid according to time on the boat and what risk they did, whether is the boarding party or the guys who run security after the vessel is safely in port.. and all food services etc are paid off also.. the investors get paid back the lion share of the deal.. most of the others get very little, but you get a lot for boarding a ship, usually a %
the operation is over, the people leave immediately and the crew then sails out..
its an investment..
once you control the ports and towns supporting these investments then you will greatly reduce the impact they have,, the biggest issues are the investors and the lack of law enforcement at the ports and towns..
