Yes its a valid point...things that hurt us or cause us pain, will eventually be discarded.
I note again that Mitsubishi is struggling to sell its 380 model...why?
...Australian's cannot afford to drive 6 cylinder cars, not unless they become more fuel efficent.
No Australian car plant produces 4 cyclinder cars (very dopey) is you ask me!
The price of oil will continue to rise and will price itself out of the market and beyond the reach of average consumers within a few short years.

Electric
Hydrogen
Fuel cell

There is an issue here not being considered.
Freight transport.
I run 3 Tippers and 5 excavators all running on Diesel. Most take around 200 litres a fill and some multiple fills a week.
Imagine TOLL's bill.
The cost to the economy is huge prices rise and spending while rising is absorbed in rising costs.So there is hidden cost from fuel rises that we all must bear even if we dont own the vehicals.
As others have said rising fuel has tempered inflation and saved spiralling interest rates.
So take advantage of the positives and living with the negatives will become a sensible trade off.

Gas is running around $2.92 per gallon here in the U.S. right now. It now costs me about $45 to fill up my truck...ouch

Talking to someone who works for P&O in Sydney, which has merged with a Danish co apparently (can't remember who).

As for 6 cylinder cars. Petrol prices in Europe are over 2EURO a litre. The average car there is a 4 cylinder 1.6 litre Holden (Opel/Vauxhall) Astra in comparison with a 3 litre Holden/Ford here.
