OMH - OM Holdings

Hi Guyz

Just been looking for recent buying oppotunities, and this company got into my radar. The Company has a Market Capitalization of around $930 million with a P/E of 6.3. They manly deal with manganese, which I think is involved with Iron Ore and Alluminium. The just made a half year net profit of around $97.5 million (56 Million for whole 2007). And looking forward with the following figures from comsec everything is looking up, and just recently they have been doing on the market buy-backs.

OMH - Earnings and Dividends Forecast (cents per share)
2007 2008 2009 2010
EPS 13.0 39.5 48.4 63.1
DPS 3.0 8.4 10.4 14.5

MOL - Earnings and Dividends Forecast (cents per share)
2007 2008 2009 2010
EPS -1.6 -2.0 13.0 59.9
DPS 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0

One thing I am just unsure about is the fact the share price has been hammered badly (picture below). Am I missing something, I haven't done much research on the company as yet, but has the price of manganese been slaughtered or the demand for it come off. There isn't much coverage on the stock, Merryl Lynch are the only analysists covering the stock and they have a strong recommendation on it,

Hi Michael

As far as I am aware of the Merryl Lynch report said something about an 8 year mine life. But they said in the report that they are planning to spend around 10 Million this year on exploration, which they expect to increase the mine life to around 15 years.

OM Holdings

:) Hi I have beeing reading this site for a few weeks trying to learn something before I start trading. Haven't got my feet wet yet.

I read about this stock in the paper last week and was wondering what others thought. Reading in the paper I know is not the best place to start but it was noted that one of its main shareholders was a VIP of some sort and the stock had great potential...

There was also another mining stock that someone had previoulsy done a lot of fundamental and technical analysis on that was quite impressive but I cant find which one it was!! Any ideas? Some people didnt like it and then the poster blew all arguments out of the water with all the comprehensive analysis.

@myrtie100 Hello, this might be a surprise  hopefully a pleasant one ;).

I noticed that you selected OMH in the Oct monthly comp (I notice these things) and I thought that's an interesting chart. There was a BO-NH opportunity after the 1st HL, but I couldn't buy so close to the 0.50 level. Then there was another HL as price traded around the 0.50 level.

That's when I saw it and I was wondering if you did too. I hope you didn't ignore the chart after it failed to fire in Oct. I did mention it in a recent list of BO opportunities (ASX Momentum thread) and I hoped that this might trigger your memory of that selection.

This shows the importance of watch lists and reviewing them regularly.

@peter2
Haha...yes Peter I had ignored it and cast it aside! It didn't even twig when you mentioned it as a BO opportunity.

Why were you cautious of the .50c level?

We humans have a number of psychological biases and one of them is around significant numbers. Buyers prefer to buy under these levels and sellers prefer to sell above them.

When you're shopping you've noticed that prices are always below whole numbers $7.99 not $8.00.

At $1.35 the shares are up from a low point of 10c in 2017. Manganese and ferro-silicon are the main big profit items at OMH.

a pick for October comp. after a great run up for 2 years into mar and then a 3 month pullback it is now back at the highs and looks ready to break

Further to the posting, I have made in the morning, putting the additional points to support my tips for May 19.
Lower production but the head grade of Manganese remained good.
Iron Ore price and production was very good until now. Iron ore primarily used to produce steel. Superior Steel to produce jaws, crusher teeth, crusher pad, ball mill liners are made of wear resistance steel - need Manganese for ductility and Chromium for hardness. So bottom line - steelmakers need more chromium and manganese. So OMH will make strategies to recover and hence the price of stocks will be great. Further, 2 cents dividend on a stock price nearing unity is a good one return.
So I am gambling and also put a buy price below 95 cents. Unfortunately, with ex-dividend on 3 May, I am not surprised to see buy price on the last date of April will be much higher when it goes ex-dividend.
Happy to participate for tipping as well to get a successful buy position.

Roll forward another year and OMH is due a post

I like the look here and some recent action over the last month seeing the SP back in the $0.50's range. Not holding will be looking for an entry
