This month there was one entrant who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @Bourseboy. If @Bourseboy posts in the thread of their competition entry within the next 48 hours they will be added to the October competition.

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entry and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

the plan is to buy more EVN as it topples lower

if i am in the top ten at the end of today

i will be surprised and disappointed
my order is in @ $3.22 and hope to fill another around $3

but yes i have always be ambitious ( just not in a mainstream way )

( PS i was torn between EVN and NST for the tip )

End of the 1st full week in the October Monthly Tipping Comp. Some nice daily moves this week but, not all up :nailbiting:.

@access SMN 22.01% is sitting there quietly in the background doing nothing but still sits in 1st Place :xyxthumbs.
@frugal.rock CAD 14.29% came back towards a group of tipsters ready to grab some cash but still holds onto 2nd Place ?.
@Craton VMY 10.26% has 3rd Place but the chart doesn't show it sorry, it's been out of wack a little since the start of the month.

No one has really ran away with comp as of yet and yes I know it's too early to call but, it's looking like @PetEarwig might be doing a little dusting for a while this month ;).
I've included the movers (Weekly & Daily) in the charts below, hope that's OK.

The journey of all entries are below, have a nice weekend folks. :)

Hello @debtfree
Will you eventually alter these figures for stocks that went ex-div today?
Always interested,
KH
I take @Joe Blow's figures and order of entries from the competition ladder and I have noticed that he doesn't credit us with any dividends. So no :), most stocks picked in these comps wouldn't earn any dividends anyway.

ooh .. I'll have to be more careful in the future. I still think IOZ will be at least the 50% level by month end :)
Thanks for the work you do.
KH

Edit: actually, I've just found this web page. Eventually, I expect that Norgate will get its act into gear and adjust the opening price for IOZ's distribution.

Just copy paste the below (Rule 4) no mention of dividends anywhere. Sorry mate.
4. The winner is the entrant whose selected stock performs the best in percentage terms between the close of trading on 30 September (entry price) and the close of trading on 29 October.

copied from competition results page...

"Results are calculated using a total return methodology that incorporates corporate actions such as stock splits, consolidations, bonus issues, rights issues, in-specie distributions/spinoffs, dilutions, distributions and dividends.

Total-return adjusted data calculated by Norgate Data."

So,
in Data we trust.
Lies, damned lies, and statistics...

There is only one set of circumstances in which we should trust Data ... when it gives us the answer we expect to hear.

Hopefully Norgate will update their files before this competition ends at the end of October. Sometimes with these ETFs it takes time, as the ETF doesn't release the final distribution amount until after the ex-date. As far as IOZ goes, they usually release an estimate a couple of days before the ex-date, and the final amount a few days later.

This distribution is a good one, too. It takes into account all of those ASX 20 dividends that were paid during the last month or so, including FMG's very large dividend. So, it is worth waiting for.

@KevinBB
Thank you for bringing this to my attention with IOZ, I understand your queries now and I must admit my eyes are open a little more now :xyxthumbs.
I try to do the EOW chart as soon as Joe's 4.10 ladder results are out so folks can view their journey compared to others before they log off for the day.

I have noticed after the close of business yesterday from @Joe Blow's 4.10 ladder figures there was an adjustment (because of dividend paid) in IOZ's opening price which was updated in Joe's ladder figures at 7pm. This has now moved you from 22nd place (-1.29%) to 17th place (0.30%). Although this is marginal at this stage but as you say there is probably more dividends to come and yes, I now see you are rewarded with the dividends by the lowering of the opening price. ?

I have checked out the chart this morning at tradingview.com and it still has you at -1.29% so even if I waited to 7pm the chart would not have changed.
They might adjust this on opening on Monday, I'll be interested to see if they do and if they don't, I'll certainly put you in the right position # in my updates.

Thanks once again @KevinBB, appreciate you making me aware of this. :xyxthumbs

This month seems to be a little more constrained, with no huge movers like last month. Except for SE1, which is unfortunately heading downward.
Still, it's all still wide open.
