NSW state election - Poll

My knowledge on politics is about the same as a school kid, but Johnny hasn't done a bad job with the unemployment rate. Unless, that's some other department's achievement.

Had to edit. Heck, I don't even know what the voting is for.

The NSW Government last year decided to take a really hard line with those irresponsible citizens who neglected to vote and wiped the $25 fine.
Instead, you should expect a couple of large policemen to arrive, possibly in the middle of the night as suggested if it were ASIO, click the handcuffs on you and fling you into the Black Mariah (do they still actually have these, and if so are they still called that?). You will spend the night in the watchhouse and appear in court on Monday. Probable sentence is six months jail.
We'll come and visit you so don't worry.

PS. I have no idea what the real situation is. I know I failed to vote in a Council by-election last year and later discovered that 75% of the population did likewise.

The people of NSW, well a certain percentage or so dumb. I can't believe they vote for these dicks.
The thought of having to deal with a labour government almost makes me physically sick, honesty,integrity, conviction does not exist.

Hi, I was talking about the future expansion of the Newcastle Port and mining permission granted for the 5 major mines that are planned. NSW has to take advantage of the need for thermal coal in China and Asia.

The penalty for failing to vote at state elections is $25 if paid at the penalty notice stage. If the matter goes to court the penalty is a maximum of $ 55 (plus court costs

NSW Labour have definitely made a botch of things, yet I still voted Greens and exhausted my preferences to Labour. The prospect of the
christian hard-right at both the federal and state level is just too ugly to contemplate.

With the Libs only gaining a 3% swing, Labor could well remain in power for another 8 years. The Libs need a new leader from its moderate faction to move the party forward. I feel that if the party had chosen a half decent leader, made the election a referundum on Labor's 12 years in office and came up with more appealing policies then the result could have bee different. After 12 years in power Labor is looking very tired indeed. Hopefully, it can now do more during the next four years to fix the state's infrastructure as it has Australia's worst public transport system.

Wouldn't be too worried Beavis -- if the Police in your area are anything like ours (Bowral NSW) they wouldn't be bothered getting off their backsides -- the regular reply "well what do you want us to do about it?"

lol , like maybe -
1. I relied on public transport, and sadly got there after polling stations closed ??
2. I was just released from hospital with appendicitis, and on the way, my stitches all came undone, and I had to go back for urgent op
3. the police arrested me for doing 340kph in a built up area, and it took me 10 hours to convince em my car was only good for 80kph.
etc
4. I got my education at a NSW public school, and we weren't taught how to tell the time or the date .

5. I blew all my money at the TAB and the casino, given the fact that they pay 25% tax (?) and had to go back to drinking metho, and whenever that happens I forget what day it is.
6. my car hit a pot hole in the road on the way to the polling station, and ended up 10 metres up a gum tree. , etc

I didn't think of making one up. Great idea. I might start with the truth and see how it goes. I simply did not know it was voting day. I caught the train into town and spent the day walking around. Didn't see anything about voting anywhere. Weird.

18. I did not realise it was voting day because I hadn't seen any publicity for it. I would like to complain that there was not enough State money spent on promoting the GREAT job that the govt has done in the last electoral period, and I would personally sign any petition that suggested they were very humble in this regard
