NEM - Newmont Mining Corporation

NEM is one of the reasons why the GDX has been in the toilet while gold sits around ATHs and on the monthly close seems to have just broken up. But NEM has gone the opposite way to POG the past year. Very disappointing.

Looks like some of Newcrest's crap will be unloaded. Not sure what's not Tier 1 for NEM. Telfer probably. The PNG thing that has not been developed. Maybe the exploration things that aren't adding up.

Still holding just wondering where it was going to go as I was emotionally attached to NCM. Good investment psychology.

Going to be a great turnaround story for 2024. 🐂 💩

NEM smashed this am.

This has been a crap deal for NCM holders, unless you bought at the bottom.

Thanks Dr B. I think they're both crap and I'm going back to trading pips on the indexes. This investing concept has nuts on it.

i disagree on investing

but then my GP doesn't even realize i watch the markets most of the day ( most days )

they are trying to stabilize my heart rate ( with medications ) i doubt they would be impressed if i was actively trading

My BP has gone from 150/100 to 130/85 after I stopped following the global warming morons.

mine used to fluctuate over 180/140 at over 120 bpm then i would do 10 pushups and the BP would drop to 80/40 but the heart rate would go to 250 bpm

now with these medications it is 100/60 @ at 60 bpm ( or less ) which is bordering on potential kidney damage

and that is despite all the 'new ideas', like net-zero, MMT , bank bail-ins , rainbow lessons for children etc etc

but high activity trading is not for me ,

There is hardly a gold share on the NYSE, NASDAQ, TSX, or TSXV that is in positive territory. Aussie-quoted gold shares have done quite well in the main. Silver shares quoted in the Americas have been decimated with some down 80% or more. Possibly time for the brave to start buying though NEM needs research due to a setback.

Newmont shares were trading at their lowest since June 2019. The drop in the yearly dividend, from an average $1.60/share to a fixed dividend of $1.00/share, along with lower production outlook for 2024 was driving shares lower, said Anita Soni, managing director of equity research at CIBC. I think you need your meds reviewed by a different doctor. Or a new heart.

am single and old , would be low on the priority list for a transplant a LVAD ( left ventricle assist device )has been suggested by a echo-cardiogram technician ,

and the meds well two want to double the dose of the expensive ( still in patent ) treatment

am looking for a local acupuncturist , someone who doesn't debate for months before trying to treat an issue

Dr Sean thinks you should get a blood pressure monitor from the chemist (Omron are good) and keep track of your BP daily.

Newmont confirmed on Friday that it plans to sell Newcrest’s share of the Telfer mine in Western Australia.

The expectation is that the most likely buyers are Regis Resources or Gold Road Resources.

Northern Star Resources and Evolution Mining, which flagged in its results last week that acquisitions were off the agenda for the year, will sidestep the auction.

Macquarie Capital is expected to emerge as the adviser to the sale, which is said to have been worked on since at least August last year.

US-based Newmont launched a buyout of Newcrest Mining last year, paying $29bn for Australia’s largest gold producer.

Telfer produces copper and gold and is the largest processing facility in the Paterson province.

The valuable Havieron deposit, which is 70 per cent owned by Newcrest and 30 per cent by Greatland Gold, is 45km away.

NEM almost back to it's NCM TO price, finally. Was a crap deal for NCM holders in retrospect. What terrible timing and weakness from NCM Directors. Shame on you. At least it's moving the GDX up a little.

Still not sure if this explains the eight dollar jump.

Why is the Newmont share price rocketing?

Investors have been buying the gold miner's shares this morning after its released a fourth quarter update that was ahead of expectations.

According to the release, Newmont's attributable gold production decreased 4% to 1,675,000 ounces quarter on quarter. This was driven primarily by lower production at Tanami due to a planned mill shutdown and seasonal rainfall impacts. In addition, the ongoing stripping campaigns at Boddington and Akyem weighed on production volumes.

The average realised gold price was US$2,090 for the quarter, which is up US$86 per ounce over the prior quarter. This comprises US$2,082 per ounce of gross price received, a favourable impact of US$19 per ounce mark-to-market on provisionally-priced sales, and reductions of US$11 per ounce for treatment and refining charges.

Newmont's gold costs applicable to sales (CAS) per ounce was largely flat quarter on quarter to US$1,057 per ounce, whereas its gold all-in sustaining cost (AISC) was also flat at US$1,439 per ounce. The latter means an average margin of US$651 per ounce.

NEM up $7.50 on the open for no apparent reason. A distribution announcement but what the?

Hi Sean,….

Both the NYSE & ASX NEM Charts show that the BUY was back on 29/2/24 – There has not been a “Clear Cut TA Sell Signal YET”…
NEM Cht NYSE 20240427.png

NEM Cht ASX 20240427.png

Our “NEM ASX” TA actually suggests “HOLD”, the reasons being the Significantly Higher High on the CCI (pages 108 & 109), and the DMI Configuration…
