One was a friend who croaked during child birth. Hers was an absolutely typical story... white light, greeted by relatives, etc

My Dad was blown up during WW2. Got carted into hospital unconcious with hole where his forehead was, shrapnel and pieces of bone in his brain plus other facial injuries.

He woke up several days later with a silver plate to cover up the hole in his head and a memory of viewing the whole operation.

He was so far gone they left him till last cause they thought he had had it anyway. They were going to shave off his moustache to sew up his lip, but the head surgeon said not to worry as he won't live anyway. etc etc etc

This was all recounted to the surgeon afterwards, and was able to give precise details of the whole thing.

He lived a further 50 years, raised a family, ran a successful business... amazing!

I was incorrectly diagnosed with HIV while serving with the UN in Rwanda in 1994. Had confirmatory tests 3 months later that came back negative on 10 April. My birthday. Sort of near death experience. Well, was to me anyway.

My partner - given only 50/50 chance of being alive in 6 months time after cancer diagnosis at the age of 23, and six months after we married.
During one of his major major surgeries, he too, watched his surgery. He could relate discussions etc at the time. Maybe it was his guardian angel.

In any event, he is still rocking away on this planet - wont tell you how old he is coz then you might guess how old I am! ;)
