Good managers are gold, if you find one stay with them as long as you still like the work.
One of the things you can do as a manager (leader), IMO is (where possible) to be developing two replacements for your position. You get to delegate allot work to those people, which in turn gets delegated. You spend most of your time working with them, following up, encouraging them and giving them resources they need to accomplish their targets. This is a ton of fun and the proteges enjoy the challenge, if they're worth promoting. It creates a great culture, enables you to be promoted faster as you have a competent manager to take your place and you prove that you can develop your people while meeting your commitments together.
I can't work for a business that doesn't allow me to do this now, once you've done it you're hooked.
