At last the unrelenting summer sun and endless blue sky has given way to grey skies and a bit of rain. Forecast for the next couple of days looks promising.
Not having to water the lawn and garden tonight.

Not so impressive so far down here in the valley mate, 2-3mm at best. It's a start though.

How much did you get up in Gidge?

WayneL not quite dancing naked around the campfire but got 1.5mm with a hope of more on the weekend.
Settles the dust for a day. but no run-off yet.

Had a pretty severe weather forecast for saturday. We only had a bit of a bang and crash for a few minutes with a little lightning and little rain.
Mate out York way south-east of us really copped it. Huge hail storm and belting rain. ground is rock hard so damage could be somewhat devasating on the hilly country.

Got woken up by the sound of rain hitting the bedroom window at 3am this morning. At this point in time 16mm has hit the rain gauge with more forecast to follow. Some of the dams at the 2nd farm should have picked up a substantial fill as they have granite catchments. Hits that and straight into the dam. Crisis alleviated for now.

After sprouting about the rain we had today, checked the dams at th 2nd farm and not a drop in the empty and near empty dams. The ground was damp but the rain didn't eventuate over there only a few k's west of us. damn and blast me just being extremely polite now.!!!!

The rain God's made another appearance here today Good friday. 4-5 mm enough to keep the grass green, the garden weeds looking healthy and a trickle into the near empty dams on the farm.
A bit more is forecast for a few days next week, which is good for us, but the weather bimbos on TV probably will have a different outlook on that.
Of course town water just comes out of a tap, dosn't it.

We got a few spots down here in the valley, not enough to register. I guess I better wash all the cars and do a rain dance or something.

Went out with the eldest son looking at trucks to replace the aging one today. Got this arvo to be greeted by drizzling event for most of what was left of the day. about another 1mm to add to yesterday's 4mm.

The forecast precipitation has finally arrived at 4pm. Managed to get some paid lime top dressing completed by lunchtime and one paddock of mine. Nicely washed in now.

We're even getting some in the valley. Afternoon appointments cancelled and sucking down some Pacific Ales at The Baskerville.

Good to see that the metro area is getting some rain. The cityites have to have the roads washed every now again.
Household water tanks are about half full, looking good for this time of the year.

Nice drop of rain finally falling this arvo. To date 20mm
Yeah, I got caught in it... Not pleasant when under a nag. :p

Even got some down home in the valley so not whingeing one iota... It is 100% most welcome.

Just made it inside the gate when the heavens opened up. Saw it coming from across Geln Forrest way and thought, wrongly, going only get the edge of it.

Forecast for the Hills is about 90mm over the next week. Time to clean-up the shed and make same space available
As an add on been directed to tiday up around the joint also. Been somewhat neglected over recent weeks due to work over load.

I've got a commission for a 6' diameter horseshoe sphere in working on... might be able to get along on that.

Approximately 650 horseshoes welded together, each with their own story having lived on a horse's hoof for several weeks.

I've seen some really inspirational stuff done with the old horseshoes. The mechanic I use for some of our vehicles has done a really good job making a 1 metre ball out of them.
Another one I know about, unfortunately the owners (both) have since met their maker, is a spinning 1 metre ball. very impressive.
Their is a bloke just West of the Guildford Bridge who has some top stuff, and prices to suit.
I've given him old scarifier points and other bits and pieces over time.
Haven't seen much in return though.
