With the new 3G iPhone set to go on sales tomorrow in Australia, will you be joining the mad rush as well? If so, which carrier and plan will you be subscribing to?

I heard the HTC Touch Diamond is worth considering as well.
 
I hear the iPhone doesn't have some basic features, MMS for example.
So I can't even send pictures to my friends...

I'll stick with my Nokia thx

i have noticed even with my ipod it has frozen a number of times that i have had to restart it..

secondly, why do people buy into this marketing craze? is it just a fashion accessory or something? when everyone has one it will go out of trend until the next thing anyway

not to mention the features on the iphone are no different to phones available on the market..

give me a nokia or blackberry any day

A friend got one the other day, pretty whiz bang really is clever, I found it a little heavy........I think for business types wanting to check email etc ideal
 
im gonna get one, but only when 3 release it, because I'm lazy to change carriers.

Couldn't agree with you more here on this point. The thing with Apple is that Steve Jobs has done a pretty damn good job in creating this range of *lifestyle* products (iMac, iPod, iPhone, etc.) and in doing so has successfully build a large cult followers. I'm sure there will be a lot of die-hard Apple fans out there who will disagree with me.
 
I won't, for now my N73 suffice.

It is a nice gizmondo though.
 
Won't bother with the i phone. It is full of fluff and glitter.
I will be upgrading to the touch diamond because it is a business phone with greater integration with xp / vista than nokia phones and the touch diamond's operating system can be tweaked to suit individual needs.
 
I’ll buy HTC diamond instead Iphone because of more applications and games available.

The IPhone 3G is certainly a great phone and haven't all of the come a very long way, not to forget the recent fall in price this model will set. hence the other will imo follow suit.

However it does still have some deficencies as pointed out above, and they shouldn't even considered releasing a phone with those standard features missing.

Whilst I'm a Nokia fan (N95) (and took the long road) to discover this, I would seriously consider the Sony Ericsson below.... which would be just a matter of price and confirmation it lives up to it's maketing.

Overall I would rate it 8.5-9.0. (p.s it has some defeciencies 2)

as long as your not going to the 3 store on king street its fine with me, i dont want the struggle of getting out of my office lobby like when the store opened
 
i think its overated-too much hype-

a friend use one-it kept on freezing and stuff-

i got a blackberry-not because all the stars have it because it can do the same job and i find it more user freindly then that touch and swipe stuff from apple and it not as expensive as most think it is $350.00 outright-

how much is a apple i phone outright-

i heard about $650-750? from vodafone or optus-

Steep price if you think about some basic features that it does not have. Plus side: It looks pretty.

you have put things in perspective with your post. Apple have now twice come so close to making a great convergence tool and yet have failed miserably.

I was on my phone for 6 hours 22 minutes today. No batteries tend to last too long with that much use day in day out. For Apple not to offer a removable battery is lunacy (I know it is a great ploy, though) in real use terms.

So is the lack of A2DP implimentation. For those that don't know A2DP is an advanced stereo sound over bluetooth protocol. So your shiny new ipod style phone will sound crap if you have a bluetooth headset.

The lack of 3G bandwidth may cause some major concern for anyone who stays outside the CBD, too.

Hey, if you just wangt a cool phone, though it's probably a great buy.


Does anyone know what other bluetooth services are offered with this? Is there a wired car kit for it?

I already have the N95, which of course is better then the iPhone. But I now im looking at getting a blackberry. The keypad on the N95 is impracticale when trying to write good emails.
 
Oh, I am in love! I am the proud owner of a 16gb Iphone and it is sweet!

Arrived at around 8am, and had already prepaid the deposit as an Optus customer. There were maybe four people in the priority queue and 10 in the other queue. I waited perhaps 20 minutes as the priority queue were served first, and got the last 16gb. Black 16gb were the first to go and had been sold out, white 16gb sold out with me : but there were plenty of 8gb in black and white. It took maybe 10 minutes as I was out of plan and with a business account it was quick to sign up. Delays occurred where people wanted to break their contract as the system was totally overloaded. Those who just wanted to buy outright were in and out within minutes.

Now, if only I can figure out how to make and receive calls, all will be good!

The blackberry is a cool and easy phone to use-

the 8000+ series is very keypad freindly-

i use my 2 fingers to type with ease-

has the n95 ever froze up?
