You'll need to get an account with a broker that offers a live feed and a charting package, or buy a program such as amibroker and purchase a live feed for it.

You can't get one free anywhere on the internet.

The best way, IMO, is the open a commsec account and use quotetracker to pull "live" (every 20seconds) quotes fom commsec, this is the best you'll get for free

Re: Intra-day Charts

Thankyou for that. I already have a Commsec account so i will give quote tracker a try.

Hi bernie65,

If you're already with commsec why don't you give iress a go, it's intraday charts are pretty good. Only problem is you can't look at previous days intra charts.

Another way is to sign up a IG Market demo account. They will provide live feed but the account only last for 14 days.

They do accept free webmail addresses (*wink)

The problem is IG charts aren't very accurate, imo.

That is true. Recently they have data points for days when stocks are in trading halt. The data points were either bid or ask prices, resulting in very sharp spikey bars.

Do commsec charts upload data with quotetracker fairly efficiently? I was looking up quotetracker and data plugins and i saw that IB was supported by quotetracker. That seemed a good combo but then i checked through the IB site and saw the rules on pattern day trading whereby you couldn't make a certain amount (maybe 3 or 5) of daytrades within a week without at least 25k in your account.

Does commsec data through quotetracker exibit and weird spikes?

Also with regards to commsec webIRESS, Bell Direct webIRESS and etrade PRO does anyone reccommend one of them as the best? Just looking through them all now and they all have their strong points. Just wondering if anyone who has played with anyone of them has any feedback from their performance and benefits.

Thanks

Spark by Iguana2 is streets ahead of WebIress or Etrade Pro.

If you're intraday trading the depth charts are invaluable.

You can also extract data in realtime via their DDE interface.

Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows of a platform/charting package which covers Aus Equities and has Volume based charts . No not time based with a volume indicator added, but a chart who's X axis plot is generated by a pre determined volume set.
Am using volume charts available for futures and FX but so far have not found a platform allowing Aus data feed, other than Quotetracker and unfortunately the refresh rates available make QT unsuitable for my needs.

Hoping traders here may know of some decent package.

Thanks, Mistagear

Try Tradeguider VSA

Google it.

I have both EOD and R/T.

TradeGuider doesn't have what he is after does it? That's just time-based with volume at the bottom?

Do you mean like that Mistagear? or like this? Where it draws the chart from the set volume amount you choose?

This is NinjaTrader if you're wondering Mista, pretty sure you can do anything like futs, fx, equities etc.

Investor R/T will do that.
Also:
Sierra Charts
Ensign
and others.

Data feed details on the websites for those products (esignal usually).

Thanks Timmy,
Appreciate your reply and will check your suggestions but at first glance I could not see anything covering ASX equities who offer volume charts.
I do already trade futures through a US broker and Ninja Trader platform.
Would be happy to use NT for my Aus equities but unfortunately NT does not support an ASX data feed.
The Australian charting software I have used for the last 10yrs has good time based charts but has no plans to offer volume charts .
Cheers, M
