Interactive Brokers

Hey Brad,

Thanks for the reply.

So without subscribing to the data you are still able to trade the ASX Mrkt ok? If so, when you place a trade does the real-time Bid/Ask prices still appear?

Just interested....

Nope
It just says you shouldnt place trades without data because your trades could go bad or something

I trade EOD so it has little or no meaning to me at all

yes, load of bollocks

just as i was about to go long on the spi and ride it all the way up to 4150

I've connected, I'm just not getting data. No idea whether my stop was triggered.

Edit, it's up again.

I got a little lucky out of it. The only thing that concerns me is whether our stops were still in play.

Edit, down again.

And up again.

didn't notice any problem today :)
Just wondering, how many of you here use webtrader? It seems like it doesn't support CFD trading...

Hi I seem to be having problems logging in to TWS. Anybody else experiencing this? Ta :)

Guys,
I've just put a message to IB regarding their lack to change over from 1 security code to another on the ASX. It's not automated which means if you are holding 1 stock and it changes code, then you might be stuck with NOT trading it for up to 48 hrs. something to be aware of.

Interactive Brokers and Dividends/Funds Withdrawal

Hi all,
I'm new to ASF and found this forum a great place to learn and discuss about investment.
I'm thinking about opening an account with IB and have read the threads about how good (and bad) it is. However i still have a couple of questions to ask before making my decision:

1. As its not CHESS sponsored, do we still receive dividends for stocks we trade with IB?

2. At anytime, can i transfer part (or all) of my balance to my linked bank account, in case i need money? If so, whats the minimum balance does IB require for an individual account?

Sorry if my questions seem so obvious and thanks for any help.

Goodluck all.

Re: Interactive Brokers and Dividends/Funds Withdrawal

1. Yes
2. Yes, you will need a miniumum of US$2000 accound balance in order to avoid an activity fee of US$20. Also note that you can only make 1 free withdrawal per month, subsequent withdrawals will attract withdrawal fee

Anyone know what time Hong Kong office is suppose to be open? I thought it was 10am AEST after the US closed office? Just tried the online chat and nothing available.

Cheers

guys I want to look at using IB however for shares I want to set my orders and come back later to see if their executed. To avoid overnight gaps, does IB offer stop limit orders so I don't get executed on large gaps etc. I want to trade Aussie shares

thanks

Yes. You have more option for orders than any other retail broker. All at the same low rate. Takes time to get your head around the complexity but its all there.
