It was an open USD position. It didn't show anywhere as an open position, just listed as a "starting cash" under the cash reports. I selected "close all non-base currency positions" which fixed it. It would've been nice to have it listed in TWS somewhere.

The JPY position would've just been one where I didn't type in the proper amount to close it out. I attempted to close it previously, but whatever I did didn't work (something like "close all open positions").

Hi, just a quick (and maybe newbish) question, does anyone know how to use IB margin lending to fund a share purchase plan? I am kinda interested in taking up the MQG SPP but is a little short of cash.

The broking firm I work for has a whitelabeled IB platform, however our clearing costs are the same as your brokerage charges, so no room to compete there.

We are looking to localise the service somewhat, so you guys have a closer point of call ect... Also you'll have access to phone broking if need be, something not currently through IB...

What would appeal to you guys given the above? Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed. If I can build something that is feasible for everyone pehaps we can get something working..

Hi,

Does anybody know how much IB charges for interest if you use their 50% margin on stocks?

It's on their website under the Fees menu>>Interest & Financing>>Interest Charged tab, currently 4.525% on tier 1 aussie dollars.

i've read the comments in this thread about not using CHESS when trading but i still don't get it. I'm still relatively new to trading and have only traded using CHESS so I don't understand how this works.

What do I have to do that is different to what I'm doing now if I'm trading with IB rather than Comsec??

Hi Guys,

I've just subscribed to Reuters News Feed, (talk about in the SPI thread tickled my fancy), just wondering how to get the ticker up in TWS ?

Thanks in advance.

OK,

I've worked it out, i actually thought it was a ticker line across the top of the page with breaking news, it's actually columns against the stock symbols which link to the news page, or alternatively a news page with all the symbols.

With IB, is it possible to purchase one share per trade (and pay $6 brokerage) for Aussie stocks...or is there a minimum order of $500 like the other brokers?

Also, with IB not providing CHESS holdings, how do you participate in capital raisings with them?

Question...

last week i bought a US stock and then sold out a few days later...

my account is based in AUD, now when I bought I didnt convert any funds into USD prior and when i sold I didnt convert anything back into AUD. Does IB do this for you automatically (convert back any winnings/losings to base currency)?

White,

You have to convert the USD back to AUD though Ideal or it will stay as USD as a ledger currency on your account.

Hello All,

Quick Question.

To trade ASX Stocks through IB, would i be right in assuming that on top of the comms for each trade, one also pays $37.50AUD per month to access the ASX Price data?

I ask as I normally don't trade intraday so have always been happy with 15-20min delayed prices, which is something that IB doesn't seem to offer.

Thanks in advance...

You don't have to subscribe to the live data to trade each market. Thou not sure how it works but the data subscription and market access are two different things.

well its just that when I go to 'Account' and then go to 'currencies' then 'close all non-base currency positions' it comes up with only 250 (which is like nothing)... keeping in mind I have no trades open on currencies or stocks..

Hey Brad,

Thanks for the reply.

So without subscribing to the data you are still able to trade the ASX Mrkt ok? If so, when you place a trade does the real-time Bid/Ask prices still appear?

Just interested....
