Login fail from Indonesia with laptop to TWs A/c or webtrader - please help
iphone ok but I need to do corporate action through account management which you cannot do

All emails to IB unanswered Phone calls huge wait times - anyone know best time to phone?
Cannot do ticket as TWS update fails too so that fails
After many years with them I am very frustrated

Yes, I believe they do.
Modified orders will be treated as the cancellation and replacement of an existing order with a new order. On certain exchanges, this may have the effect of subjecting modified orders to commission minimums as if they were new orders. For example, if an order for 200 shares is submitted and 100 shares execute, then you modify the order and another 100 shares execute, a commission minimum would be applied to both 100 share orders. Orders that persist overnight will be considered a new order for the purposes of determining order minimums.

Just heard they are banned in Indonesia - wish I knew this before I came

In what way banned? I would hope only so far as not allowing Indonesian nationals to open accounts (although I can't see why they should not allow that), but are you suggesting your problems at even accessing the IB sites is due to you being in Indonesia.
I holiday in Bali frequently and always bring my access key card in case I need to take some immediate (corporate action) like you, or need to transfer money in our out of IB. I don't think I have ever needed to log in from Bali, but I have assumed I would be able to if needed.
I also travel to Thailand and I am sure I have logged in from there on several occasions.
Do you know if the banning is come from the Indonesian authorities or from IB? Is IB rejecting login attempts from an Indonesian IP address?

If all else fails you can use a VPN. Not good for intraday trading but should be fine for placing bracket orders for swing trading.

I've been using "Private Internet Access" VPN since the stupid metadata retention laws came in but not on my trading PC though. They're reasonably priced and there's only a slight speed drop. There's a few that offer free trial periods freebird54 that might allow you to bypass any filters there are in Indonesia that might be blocking IB.

No probs. Hola works differently to a normal VPN, wouldn't touch it with a 50-foot pole...

After 12 years in China I've been through a few vpns! Express vpn was the most reliable and astrill was the fastest.....
Whilst I use a public VPN for certain tasks, public VPN's always unencrypt data at the VPN Server, sometimes fully unencrypt prior to encrypting again. Their aim is privacy NOT security. So you're essentially giving unencrypted data access to a building full of supernerds.
A few other options that may be more secure
I use VMware now so I can log into my home computer and control it from anywhere. VMware has it's own VPN which is private. The downside is, my home server has to run 24/7.
You can try VirtualBox ( I haven't ) which is an open source version of VMware.
You can also set up a simple virtual Server ie azure.microsoft.com for about 30 dollars a month, load up TWS on there and control/view it from anywhere.
Both of these will use a private VPN as opposed to a public one, so shouldn't get blocked by any countries or provide any unwanted suspicion or attention.

The route of least resistance for setting up a VPN service is just to spin up a micro / free tier AWS instance in a location of your choosing then forward traffic through it with SOCKS over SSH.

If I'm in another country on a student visa, or other more temporary visa, will I be able to use the IB margin account? If I prove I am living there?
I'm going to be over in Europe for a year to maybe a few years, but am not an EU citizen or anything, and am hoping I can get access to IBs cheaper margin interest rates.
