For a company with >1 bil in annual profits, not a big deal.

They are the best brokerage company I've ever seen, especially in risk management.

Agree regarding IB.

Ouch from the client's perspective, totally destroying an account and still owing sounds like a terrible position to be in.

No doubt similar account destruction has happened here with local brokers !

That's quite a large hit, how did you come across that article ? No mention in the company press releases.
I missed it too. I really should have paid more attention to IB's business.

I heard Bank of China clients lost even more, and Bank of China recouped some of the losses by overdrafting clients' bank accounts and credit cards.

RE: the article, I found it via another forum. IBKR stock price now sitting near their low in March

Yeah, it later popped up on their media release page ! Didn't notice it the first time I looked, ! 1Q results were at top of the page. Hmmm the perils of the futures markets... Who would have thought in a million years paying up big time to get a long position of your books !!

Hi Folks.

Anyone familiar with a glitch which is as follows ? ;

Option Greeks missing from XJO near month series, back months OK, throws Live Risk Navigator out of whack, having to calculate my delta exposure on near months using excel with data manually transposed from Iress which I enter on the open.

Is there a fix for this ?

Hmmm.

Previous problem actually on my end, after some testing it's come to light missing Greeks occur only on older iMac which I mainly use.

MacBook and Windows OK.

Why would that be ??

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to place a stop buy order on IB? So if the price rises above a certain level an order to buy will enter the market. I tried to do it but I also had a stop loss in case it went the wrong way and IB thought I was trying to trade with margin and wouldn't allow me to do it.

Yes, it is possible, have a look at the documentation:

I think you want a Buy-Trail-Stop-Limit order

Hi Bob.

Try right click over the ask price, then click "Order Ticket", you'll find numerous order types in the "Order Type" drop down, click on the little ? for order type info.

Hmmm According to the documentation it should be good. I'm wondering if it didn't like it because I was also trying to add a stop loss at the same time.

For AU IB customers, does anyone know what protection we have on US shares?
The AU IB site just says we 'may be able to access compensation available under the National Guarantee Fund (NGF)' - unclear if this is for US and AU shares, or the amounts that they will cover?

Man the IB website makes feel dumb.

Can someone point me in the right direction, I am wanting to use my longer term holdings as collateral for some shorter term stuff, options, maybe CFDs. Cannot find what type of account I would need, or fees or anything details really???
