Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

anyone running IB trough Amibroker, if your thoughts?

I don't know why but I am just not a fan of Ninja Trader

I run IB through amibroker for 1min charts for the SPI & sometimes forex and I find it works well but I don't trade off these charts - I only use it for testing purposes or to get a feel of the markets movements.

hi nomore4s,

if it wouldn't be a hassle could u post a 1min chart zoomed all the way out? An fx pair would be great, but any chart on 1min will do.

cheers.

Here you go.

Not FX but Nov oil futs back to beginning of August

Here's a forex one for you.

thanks a lot, much appreciated!

looks like i have found a solution to the issues I have. there's is a lag on ACT to IB that at times can cost me a pip or two.

looks like i will pick it up, was the plug-in tricky?

thanks a lot

No very simple actually, there is a instructional video on the amibroker site.

If I can do it anyone can:)

Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

Traders using interactive brokers should be aware of the reset times that can occur at any time with a large window of 2 hours ten minutes if on US server

Yesterday I had a stop on the SPI that was executed 4 minutes after the stop level was hit. The reset took five minutes not one. This meant some considerable slippage. Luckily for me the market was not moving quickly and I only had a small position. However if the delay had occurred around news then I could have lost a significant amount.
IB will not amend the trade and claim that you should be aware that “non native” orders will not execute when reset is being done. This is confusing as you don’t know when the reset will occur.

They suggest moving to HK server so that the reset is at a better time so check you are on HK server not US server..
Be warned…

Re: Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

Is the 2hr window fixed, or is it anytime while US markets are closed? I thought we'd been shifted to the HK server a while back?

Re: Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

I would check you are on HK server to be sure, I would post a link but not allowed so google interative brokers reset times to see the windows on the site.

Thats why I put this post up, what if the market was really moving!!
To be honest I never had these issues with MFGlobal and I was not impressed

Re: Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

Thanks for pointing it out. They list reset time for the US servers between 3pm and 6pm AEST.

Re: Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

No ****. What about their stops and executions for Australian shares? Anyone found any such problems?

Re: Warning: Interactive Broker Resets and Stops

Speaking of the devil, all aus stock orders pruged and unable to enter new ones?

Can't trade nothing! Seriously thinking about taking the rest of the day off.

I don't think all orders are purged.... I hope not anyway.

IB Offline....wtf is happening?

Hi all,

Can anyone shed any light on what happened with IBtoday?

I recieved the bulleting first stating

<To ASX traders:
Wed Oct 7 20:03:21 2009 EST

ASX STK and OPT are currently unavailable for trading.>

Then one that all orders were purged.

As I type another bulletin has come on advising its all back on again.

I don't want to have to go back to comsuc but this is unacceptable..........

I havent been able to get onto the IB customer service team, does anyone have any info?

Has this happened before to anyones knowledge? Is it likely to be a regular thing?

Anyone from IB care to comment?

There doesn't need to be a new thread each time IB is down or someone has an issue.

Please just add your query to this thread and we can keep all the IB related issues together.

I have merged the last two IB related threads into this troubleshooting thread.

So IB failed around the job numbers.

Couldnt handle the volume of orders or people online?

Interesting how their tv ads go on about stability etc.

I wonder if they will blame an external cause. Or not even bother with an explanation.

Actually failed before that
In fact i can give you the precise time by looking back at market replay when my order got pulled - 11:18:27

OK, apologies.

From what you are saying I take it IB outages are a semi-regular issue.....am I correct?

Has anyone been given any info from IB what the issue is and if it is being addressed?

Thanks!

Not a regular issue from what I can recall. Been with them for 6 months probably down once (on the SFE) before today. And from memory that was due to someone dug up a cable to the exchange so not IB's fault.

The server reset is annoying but not detrimental.
