He was a Trumpian figure. Went into politics to protect himself from prosecution.
Promised an Italian revitalisation but actually hugely increased the debt and it became the second poorest performing country in the EU.
He was the longest serving PM they ever had and it is generally agreed he didn't do much of note with running the country. I am sure he is loathed by some but he controlled the media and is loved by the far right hence he got on well with Putin.

One funny Trumpian thing he did was deliver a biography of his life to every household in Italy. He just loved attention.
His personal life story is amazing. His effect on Italy not so good.

James Hardy, famous yachstman, member of a well known wine making family, has died at the age of 90.
He sailed in two Olympics, and skippered Australian challengers in three Americas cups.
And I really liked his Thomas Hardy Shiraz, but could never afford it.

Simon Crean passed away aged 74, always seemed a genuine guy from a workers point of view and came across as the fall guy for Labor in his day IMO. RIP

Former federal Labor leader Simon Crean dies, aged 74

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed Crean will be given a state funeral, saying his passing was a “great loss for the labour movement, but a great loss for our nation as well”.

Crean, a key figure in the union movement and the Australian Labor Party over four decades, was visiting Europe for meetings on trade and business and is understood to have died on Sunday.

Maybe the only one I could have possibly voted for.

Now steady on Wayne. I think he was possibly one of the best either side of politics. Came across as fair and understanding and showed no bs.

Absolutely and to highlight that, how long did it take for Albo to get a go at the top job in the Labor party? Not until Billy completely imploded and they needed someone who seemed like a working class grass roots person.
How long will that trait can carry Albo, is the next question, but probably for another thread.
